Meet Subekchya KC Karki of Nugaby moksh.com and MOMO Maya

Today we’d like to introduce you to Subekchya KC Karki.

Hi subekchya, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am Subekchya KC—a purpose-driven woman, creative soul, and lifelong learner who believes in living with intention, compassion, and courage. Born and raised in Nepal, I was blessed with progressive and loving parents who raised me to question norms, chase dreams, and never settle for “No” without a reason. That rebellious curiosity still fuels my journey today.

I am a mother, daughter, wife, sister—and above all, a woman who believes that the status of women reflects the face of society as a whole. I live as a spiritual and empathetic entrepreneur, filled with immense gratitude for the life and opportunities I’ve been given. But I’m not someone who feels satisfied with just my own progress. My purpose is greater—to help create a world where equal opportunity is not a privilege, but a right for every woman and man who has been denied what they deserve.

Professionally, my path has taken me from event coordination in India to leading roles in Nepal’s top media house, to launching my own social enterprise. In 2018, I founded Moksh Enterprises, a women-led, sustainability-focused company that provides employment to marginalized women. That mission led to something even more personal and powerful—www.nugabymoksh.com.

Nuga, meaning heart in one of Nepal’s native tongues, is more than just an e-commerce platform. It is a heartfelt movement—built for women, by women. Through Nuga, we support ethical, sustainable brands, promote conscious living, and empower women entrepreneurs from all walks of life. It’s a space where commerce meets care, and stories become strength.

Now based in the U.S., I’ve also begun a new chapter with Momo Maya, a food venture that shares the soul of Nepal one momo at a time—offering warmth, nostalgia, and love in every bite.

I continue to serve as a proud member of the Zonta Club of Austin, staying true to my 12-year commitment to women’s empowerment and community building. Every step I take is rooted in kindness, authenticity, and the dream of creating lasting impact.

With a humble heart, I invite you to walk this journey with me.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve always believed I’m a blessed child—and that belief has been my anchor through life’s toughest moments. Challenges have come my way, as they do for everyone, but I’ve never viewed them as punishments or setbacks. Instead, life has always offered me better alternatives, greater wisdom, and deeper purpose.

One of the most transformative moments in my life came when I entered motherhood. It turned my world 180 degrees—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. While it brought immense joy, it also came with its own share of overwhelming changes. But instead of feeling lost, I found myself drawn toward healing, growth, and self-discovery.

That’s when I entered the spiritual school of Pranic Healing—and from there, an entirely new universe opened up before me. Today, I am a certified sound healer, energy healer, and an intuitive tarot practitioner. These practices didn’t just help me navigate challenges—they helped me transform them into lessons that widened my perspective and deepened my connection to self and others.

I’ve never asked, “Why me?” when faced with adversity. Instead, I ask, “What is this trying to teach me?” That mindset shift has been everything. Every obstacle, every pause, and every pivot has helped me grow into the person I am today—a woman rooted in resilience, grace, and ever-evolving wisdom.

This constant evolution fuels everything I do—from my businesses to my relationships to my personal mission of creating opportunities and spreading healing wherever I can.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
About Nuga by Moksh
“Heart-led. Women-powered. Earth-loving.”

Nuga, which means heart in one of Nepal’s native languages, is a soul-rooted initiative born from my vision of building a world where women rise together. Founded under the umbrella of Moksh Enterprises, Nuga is a women-led e-commerce platform built for women, by women.

Nuga is more than just a marketplace—it’s a movement for conscious living, ethical consumption, and collective empowerment. Every product on our platform tells a story of sustainability, skill, and soul. We work with women entrepreneurs, artisans, and small businesses who believe in people-first and planet-friendly practices.

Through Nuga, we aim to:

Empower women with fair economic opportunities
Support sustainable and ethical brands
Create a community that values authenticity, empathy, and mindful choices
Nuga is a reflection of everything I stand for: healing, purpose, gratitude, and growth. It is where commerce meets compassion—and where every purchase becomes a part of a much bigger impact.

About Momo Maya (Food venture)
“More than a meal—it’s a memory.”

Momo Maya is my heart’s tribute to Nepal—wrapped in love, steamed with stories, and served with soul. Inspired by the comfort of my mother’s kitchen and the flavors of my homeland, Momo Maya is not just a food brand, it’s an emotional experience.

At Momo Maya, we believe food is more than calories—it’s connection.
Each momo is made with warmth, care, and authenticity, sharing the taste of Nepal with the world, one bite at a time.

Our vision is simple but powerful:

To bring people together through soulful Nepali comfort food
To celebrate heritage through honest, home-style cooking
To create a space where food feels like a hug from home
Whether through a food truck, pop-up, or community kitchen, Momo Maya brings people closer—to each other and to the stories that matter.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I can read energy.
Most people are surprised to learn that beyond being a businesswoman and social entrepreneur, I’m also a certified energy and sound healer, and I practice tarot. I’ve learned that intuition, like strategy, is a powerful tool—and I bring both into everything I do, whether it’s launching a brand or guiding a friend through tough times.

I’m equal parts rebel and healer.
I might come off as someone who’s driven, grounded, and entrepreneurial—but deep down, I’m also wildly spiritual, deeply intuitive, and always asking the big questions. I’ve found strength in softness, and healing in hustle.

I’ve built businesses, led media teams, and yet—my biggest transformation came through motherhood.
Becoming a mother flipped my world upside down, but it also brought me into the universe of inner work. Pranic healing didn’t just help me cope—it awakened a whole new version of me.

I produced a Nepali movie about women’s empowerment and sacrifices.
In 2018, I produced Saili, a powerful film that shines a light on the often unheard stories of women—their struggles, dreams, and resilience. Saili wasn’t just a movie; it was a voice for those whose sacrifices often go unnoticed.
