Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Pelagio
Hi Tania, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born in Monterrey, Mexico and moved to Austin, Texas at the age of three. I grew up in my mother’s hair salons. From sweeping hair, to checking in clients, to balancing the drawer at only 9 years old, I was inspired by a lifetime of watching my mother own and operate her businesses. After 13 years of working in the dental field, I spent another four years of training in the medical aesthetics industry to create a medical spa and pursue my own dream of creating a beauty business.
In 2019, I began doing permanent makeup working out of my living room. I eventually worked out of a converted garage, and shortly after, I found my small business, Sol y Luna, growing! I love teaching and sharing my knowledge, so I toured throughout Texas teaching students interested in permanent makeup how to do powder brows, lip blushing, and lip neutralization. With Sol y Luna’s growing popularity and client demands, I upgraded to a suite in the heart of Pflugerville where Sol y Luna operates as a med spa today.
Today, I am the proud CEO and Master Injector at Sol y Luna Beautique, and Director at Sol y Luna Academy, a bilingual beauty academy that teaches innovative industry treatments in English and Spanish. I love helping people look and feel their best, and I want to continue to inspire students to pursue their passions in the aesthetics field just as I did.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to where I am today has been one of many lessons learned. As a small business owner, I have had to learn to be adaptable, flexible, and a quick learner since I wear all the hats in this one-woman show. I am not just running a business; I am creating a sanctuary for people to come to indulge in aesthetic services that can help them achieve their skin goals, escape their busy lives, unapologetically treat themselves, and ultimately boost their self-esteem. I am always growing my skillsets to stay on top of trends and the latest industry treatments to offer my clients the best quality and value. I love what I do, and any challenge that comes my way is a reminder to keep going after my dreams and continue growing my business.

It is wonderful to see how much society has shifted towards focusing on taking care of oneself, and making space to be kind to ourselves is an essential part of our wellbeing.
At Sol y Luna Beautique, we believe “Self Care is Self Love”. We believe in prioritizing whatever self care means to you in order to help you look and feel your best. Beyond visible changes from the transformative treatments that we offer, the mental boost and positive self-perception that comes from one of our rejuvenating services is something that is truly powerful.
We offer injectables like Botox and filler, permanent makeup, Hydrafacial, Biorepeel and other customizable face and body chemical peels, non-invasive body contouring sessions, teeth whitening, PRP, lash lifts, waxing services, and more. This year, we started a two-tier membership program for clients to consistently indulge in a self-care treatment each month at an affordable price point.
We also teach courses through our in-house teaching center, Sol y Luna Academy. We offer permanent makeup, body contouring, injectables, and more state-of-the-art treatments. We are one of the few Spanish-speakers that travel and host courses in Spanish. We aim to inspire, educate, and empower students to grow their knowledge in the cosmetology field, or explore new opportunities for their own small business in beauty.

All of this is possible thanks to unwavering support from my mom, my family and clients-turned-friends. Thank you all for the motivation to continue to grow as a business and as a human. I’d also like to thank Josseline, one of those clients-turned-friends, who this year, became my very first assistant. Josseline has helped me better understand the business I crafted from an outsider’s perspective and has also been a huge motivator for me this last year. Together, we are elevating Sol y Luna Beautique onto a new level to continue to provide excellent service and an outstanding experience for all our clients. We want to ensure Sol y Luna Beautique and Sol y Luna Academy continue to grow into a community pillar, facilitating and enhancing everyone’s self love journey.
