Meet Tori Bowman LPC-S of Magnolia Roots Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tori Bowman, LPC-S (Licensed Professional Counselor – Supervisor) .

Hi Tori, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey to being a mental health practitioner started with an introduction to seeing the women in my life unable to heal from trauma. As a native of Mississippi, therapy was not discussed as a way to embrace mental health, only religion. After a few years of working in healthcare, I decided to return to school to pursue a Master’s degree in counseling..

Now 11 years later, I own my own private practice, Magnolia Roots Counseling here is the Texas Hill Country.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, it has been a smooth road, but there have also been some bumps along the road. As is the case with any entrepreneur, trust in the process and faith in your deliverables was the key to success; however, there are always bumps in the road. Fortunately, once my therapy practice began, the business has grown and sustained over the past 11 years.

We’ve been impressed with Magnolia Roots Counseling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Magnolia Roots Counseling is a professional counseling center located in Kyle, Texas, serving the I-35 Austin/San Antonio corridor. Counseling services are provided to individuals (over 21) and couples, as well as mindfulness/meditation classes. What makes me unique is my approach as a clinician. It is integrative, collaborative, and strength-based. It is my belief that each and every client is unique, therefore I attempt to tailor the therapeutic experience to each individual and his or her needs. I strive to collaborate with each client, so that they might realize their values, strengths, and abilities in order to facilitate growth and overcome their problems. I am most proud of the growth of my business and the people that I have helped and advised over the years.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Unfortunately, because of issues with patient confidentiality, there is not room for direct collaboration. However, collaboration with medical professionals to co-facilitate physical and mental health would be welcome.
