Today we’d like to introduce you to Tutty Lopez & Karolina Schvartz.
Hi Tutty & Karolina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Karolina – is a visionary European Interior designer with 3-D imagination and space planning at her fingertips. Her 15 years of international expertise in architecture, construction, design, and real estate make her one-of-a-kind.
Tutty – is a French-Venezuelan fashionista with an effortless style. Thanks to her 15 years of luxury fashion expertise with brands like Burberry and Jamin Puech and her graphic design background, she has developed a keen eye for art, design & the interior design world.
Our motto: “We are different but complementary and together we are the best”
We were born and raised 6,000 miles apart and have both lived and traveled all over the world.
Our common adventure started when we arrived in Texas at the same time three years ago and we were both looking for a new home. We realized that while some of the properties that we visited had a huge potential, we were having trouble finding our dream home that would match our European style.
Very quickly we understood that we had a special thing in common… The desire to be surrounded by beautiful objects and tasteful spaces, and the ability to turn those visions into a reality. Convinced by Austin’s potential, we decided to create Double Dot studio.
Double Dot is an Austin-based Interior Design studio. We provide refined, sleek & chic interior design ideas, to help customers create their dream spaces.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
For us, the biggest challenge we faced at the beginning was to find reliable partners able to deliver finishes that met our standards (contractors, painters, electricians, plumbers, etc). Eventually, we found the right ones and now we have an incredible team.
In addition, as we were new in town and we didn’t have any experience on the Texan market, it was hard to reach our first clients. We are grateful for our first customers who trusted us and spread the word.
We expected that adapting our European style into the Texans’ needs and taste would be a challenge, but in reality, we quickly realized that they appreciated our approach.
Austin has become one of the most popular cities to live in. People from California, New York and all over the country are arriving in the city, creating lots of delays in construction processes as well as permits, compounded by global supply chain issues. Online and offline material orders take more than usual to be delivered. It’s part of our role to educate our clients to be patient and understanding.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We draw on our European roots to design refined, bespoke interiors that will reflect your unique personality.
We combine our skills for space optimization with a focus on open spaces to create the perfect flow that fits your lifestyle.
We provide 2D floor plans and 3D renderings to our clients, helping them to have a clear vision of what their final project will look like.

How we work:
PHASE 1 – CLIENT FIRST MEETING & DESIGN PROCESS
Client first meeting
Knowing our clients’ needs is our priority. We take the time to understand their lifestyles and expectations for their projects
Design Process
Up to 3 draft layouts (2D and 3D) are presented to our clients
First, corresponding most closely to the client’s original specifications
Second, an alternative classic layout
Third, adventurous with unexpected solutions
We gather client feedback to design a final proposal that usually combines elements of each of the three drafts.
We have been surprised how many of our customers dared to accept our “ out of the box “ concepts.
PHASE 2 – DESIGN DEVELOPMENT / CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS
Design Development
Creation of all documents for builders to prepare a cost estimate
Material and finishes selection
Material quantity and sqft calculation for the project
Construction documents
Final cost estimate with the approved material and finishes
Provide architectural (floor plan, elevations…) & technical (electrical, plumbing…) drawings to the builder in order to start the project
PHASE 3 – CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION / SITE SUPERVISION or FOLLOW UP
This is the last phase which involves the follow-up of the project from the beginning until it is delivered to the client
What does success mean to you?
For us, success is delighted clients enjoying the dream homes that we designed specifically for them. As women entrepreneurs and moms full-time, our success is to balance our lives between family and work, doing what we love the most.
Beyond constant growth and business expansion, we have so many ideas to explore… and why not, someday we can have our own TV show
