Rising Stars: Meet Alyssa Sontag of North Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Sontag.

Hi Alyssa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I moved to Texas in late 2021, and during that transition, I took the opportunity to focus more on content creation while balancing work and my certification courses for a teaching credential. With a background in fashion-related social media and a genuine love for styling outfits, I leaned into creating content that reflected both my style and personality. Over time, I started blending in lifestyle elements to add variety and give people a better sense of who I am. Above all, I always aim to keep my content genuine and authentic—it’s really important to me that what I share feels real and relatable.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It may sound silly but it definitely hasn’t been a the smoothest road. But I think that’s part of the journey, especially as a small content creator. I would say one of the biggest challenges has been visibility. I put a lot of time and energy into content that doesn’t always get seen right away, which can be discouraging. Another obstacle has been balancing content creation with other responsibilities, like working and finishing requirements for my teaching credential. There are times I do pause or shift my focus, which made consistency tough. All in all, I’ve learned how to stay grounded in why I started—sharing things I love, staying authentic, and connecting with people in a real way. It’s those small wins and connections that remind me it’s worth it and why I keep trying to stay active in what I do with my social media content.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I create fashion and lifestyle content with an emphasis on authenticity and personal style. I got started by combining my background in fashion-focused social media with my genuine love for styling outfits. Over time, I started incorporating lifestyle elements to show more of who I am and keep things fresh. I’d say I specialize in putting together relatable, everyday looks and content that still feel creative and expressive, while also sharing bits of real life along the way.

I would have to say that I’m most proud of how I stay pretty consistent with my voice and keeping things genuine, even when growth has been slow or life has gotten busy. I’ve had to balance content creation with work and my path toward earning a teaching credential, so every step forward—no matter how small—feels meaningful.

I guess what sets me apart is that I don’t try to present a perfectly polished version of life. I really focus on making content that feels approachable and honest. Whether it’s styling an outfit, sharing my experience with milestones, or bringing my audience along to see a piece of my day, I want people to feel like they’re connecting with a real person, not just a curated image.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something surprising that most people might not know about me is that content creation is actually a side hobby, not a full-time job. I’ve been building my content while working and studying for my teaching credential after moving to Texas. A lot of what I share isn’t always paid—it’s just something I genuinely enjoy doing and with brands that are fun to work with and for. A lot of people assume that every post is sponsored or part of a brand deal, but the truth is, only a fraction of them are and I create because I love styling, being creative, and connecting with others.
