Today we’d like to introduce you to Bianca Jimenez.

Bianca Jimenez

Hi Bianca, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Bianca a.k.a. B-Lo. I was born in Austin, Texas as a first generation Mexican-American woman. My mother migrated here at 17 years old to make a life for herself and her children. Growing up in northeast Austin was a struggle. We didn’t have money but our single mother always kept food on the table. As a child, I always loved singing and performing. I would dance in front of the TV and sing whatever song was on the screen. In 5th grade, I psyched myself up to go on stage and sing “No One” by Alicia Keys at the talent show. This was a pivotal moment for me. Though I’d always sang for fun, this was when I realized I had actual talent; I got great feedback and support from my peers.
Thus began, my journey of choir and theatre performances.
Eventually, my home life became an unfit situation for me and I was placed in foster care at age 15. Throughout the remainder of my teen years, I wrote. I wrote my feelings, griefs and poems.
I found myself again, when I enrolled into ACC after graduating high school at age 17. I received an Associate’s in Music Business, Performance and Technology. With all of the new knowledge and connections I made through school, I started my own music career. I released my first E.P. titled “Girl, Interrupted” at age 19. Since then, I have released various singles and a second E.P. back in April 2024 titled
”Soultera.” With many performances under my belt- including a show at the Foundation Room House of Blues in Houston- I consider myself to be a professional vocalist. My sound can be described as R&B/Indie Alt. with a sprinkle of Latin influences. Music has always been my passion and sense of self-expression. I have so much more to share with the world. Keep an out for me, you won’t be disappointed.

Xoxo

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. I think where I have struggled the most is finding a balance in everything. I want to be taken seriously but also fun to work with. I want to invest everything into music (time/money) but I also need to take care of my real-life responsibilities. Lastly, I’ve had to learn to believe in myself more than anyone else because putting too much value in other people’s support can lead to disappointment. I’m so grateful to those who show up for me but I’ve learned to not let myself get down when they don’t.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a vocalist. Voice lessons and choirs have helped me find my voice. I’ve always been rather quiet and introverted but when it’s time to sing, I forget all about who’s watching. My vocal range is pretty wide. I like to have fun with melodic runs and high/low notes. I think what set’s me apart is the way I sing with expressive emotion. My mother always told me to sing from the heart. So I do, even if it sounds raw or a little raspy, I embrace it all.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is how open I am to all music genres and forms of art. I’ve been exposed to a little of everything. I did an Alice In Chains cover at a show once and it was so much fun!
