Rising Stars: Meet Chachi Faz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chachi Faz.

Chachi Faz

Hi Chachi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
So, I have been wanting to do a food blog quite some time. And I made a post on Facebook talking about if I started a food blog, how many people would follow? And my boy Sertified hit me up and was like, bro. If you start one, I’ll do everything for you. I’ll market you. I’ll record you. I’ll edit your videos. I’ll do everything for you. Just eat and talk your s*** cuz that’s right up your Alley. And I’m recently going through a divorce right now, so I kind of use the food blog as an escape to try to help keep my mind off of shit.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I mean, so far, I would say it’s going smoothly. I mean, all I really do is eat and talk shit, and that’s my two favorite things to do, so really don’t get any more easier than that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I do a food blog based out of Austin, Texas, called Hidden Gems, and the whole premise of the show is to basically shed light on these mom-and-pop places. Cuz, to be honest, some of the best food I ever had comes from little hole-in-the-wall restaurants. One thing I say that sets us apart from everyone else is I’m not afraid to be myself. I feel a lot of people are afraid to be themselves out of fear of judgment from others, and that’s just not me.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
So, one of the best books I’ve ever read is called “Crucial Conversations,” and it basically explains why certain people are more successful than others and, in the book, it explains that the reason some people are more successful is because of their ability to express themselves without coming off as being an asshole or passive aggressive. I definitely suggest you check it out.
