Today we’d like to introduce you to CJ Geoffroy.
Hi CJ, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 1980, my dad moved the family here to Austin from Irvine, California and I’ve been here ever since. With all of the Californians here now, I like to joke that I started that movement. I grew up in NW Austin and have remained here ever since. I attended Spicewood Elementary, Canyon Vista Middle School and Westwood high school before leaving for Sam Houston State University.
Growing up, I always wanted to be in the film industry (again, from California), so naturally I went to Sam Houston State University for a Radio/Television/Film degree. Once I realized that I wouldn’t be gracing the silver screen, I did the next best thing: I started working in television as an Account Executive at the now defunct KVC (an independent station that was owned by KTBC) and was instantly hooked. I loved using my creativity to produce commercials for my clients, but most importantly, I loved bringing success to their businesses.
For over 25 years I have worked with brands to find their exact audience, tell their stories, refine their brand, launch new products and grow their revenue. It brings me joy and is part of who I am.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the obstacles and challenges that I face as an advertising agency is convincing owners to advertise on platforms that they are unfamiliar with. A high percentage of business owners gravitate towards things that they are familiar with and don’t tend to branch out into new areas. This is where I come in and guide a business owner towards a new tactic they are not currently utilizing. There is no shame in getting marketing help from an agency. Think of it this way: if you plan on having 4 people over for dinner, you more than likely will prepare the meal yourself. If you plan on having 30 people over for dinner, you are more likely to hire a caterer.

Every campaign we create is as unique as the brand it represents. We have brought success to many verticals including, but not limited to: Healthcare, financial, legal, non-profit, home service and retail. We do this by tracking audience trends, analyzing viewership/concentration and harnessing real-time data to strategically serve our client’s messaging exactly where and when it matters most.
What makes you happy?
I literally owe everything to God blessing me throughout my advertising career. I met my wife, Lauren, when I was an Account Executive at KVUE and she was my Media Buyer at LatinWorks.
We spend all our free time taking in/sharing all that Austin has to offer with our 10 year-old son, Milo. Like any good Austinite, we enjoy live music, film and Austin’s diverse food scene. However, what brings us the most joy is travel.
Taking in what the world has to offer is almost an obsession of ours and we travel any chance we get. Fun fact: we were on Maui during this year’s tsunami warning so that’s a core memory.
Other sources of joy: I love volunteering at my son’s elementary school as part of Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) and at my church, St. Thomas More Catholic Church where I serve on the Welcoming Committee. I love staying busy with Milo’s swim team (he swims at Nitro in Cedar Park) and his Austin Ninja’s competitions.
