Today we’d like to introduce you to Clay Edgin
Hi Clay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a competitive powerlifter and strongman for just over 20 years, with plenty of bumps and bruises along the way. I’ve spent as much time in physical therapist offices as I have in the gym, it seems. I began using an electrical stimulation machine called the NeuFit Neubie during my physical rehab while training for the world grip strength championships in Russia. In only four sessions, I was able to completely eliminate my pain and unlock levels of performance I have not yet experienced before. After setting a world record and taking home four medals in that World Championships, I began working for the NeuFit because I wanted to learn how the technology could help my personal training clients even more.
Not to mention that I was approaching my 40s and my strongest days were behind me, but I was doing everything I could to squeeze out a few more years under the bar, I wanted the agency within me to quit my sport when I was ready, rather than have my sport quit me before I was done.
After working with NeuFit for three and a half years, where did everything from manage that clinic to perform marketing Services, sales, and education, I decided I was tired of providing practitioner support and watching everybody else get an amazing outcomes; I wanted to hit those home runs too. So I became a customer, investing everything I had into these incredible machines and training. I was so fortunate to have access to neuroscientists, Engineers, and forward-thinking health providers.
In less than 2 years, Innervation has gone from a one person personal training shop with one of these machines to a team of three trainers, a doctor, and an operations officer. We eliminate chronic pain, break through plateaus in neurological conditions, and supercharge workouts using technology like electrical stimulation, PEMF, microcurrent therapy, and infrared light. We use technologies that enhance natural healing processes, not replace them, so you can postpone or even avoid surgery.
Not only has the intervention training and Rehab brand grown extremely quickly, but in 2023 we also started a home health care agency licensed by the state of Texas and are nearly finish obtaining our Medicaid approval.
As if that wasn’t enough, the passion for this work has led me to create my own wellness device – a handheld PEMF recovery tool with over 600 protocols in its database, supporting the healing of everything from multiple sclerosis, carpal tunnel, back pain, and even anxiety. It’s a phenomenal device the size of your sunglasses case, but with the versatility to do more than you ever thought possible.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. When we think of health, our western healthcare system says to take pills or get surgery if you want a certain outcome. And then you have someone like me trying to convince you that if I just hook these electrodes up to you in certain places, you’re going to feel better.
The work we do is not for the person who is newly injured or diagnosed. We’re for the patients who have been let down by every other doctor, surgery, test, and pill that they’ve tried so far. They come to us and they say “there has to be some more natural way for me to get better”. A lot of our patients tell us that they are in pain, but the testing they received from the doctor did not show a clear diagnosis. Or, more recently, a lot of our patients are coming to us acknowledging that there could be an emotional or psychological component of that pain or disease, but they don’t know where to go to feel better.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
After 20 years of competitive strength sports, owning a gym, and amassing nearly 30,000 hours of in person training, I think I have really good idea on how to guide somebody through an exercise or rehabilitation practice for the best possible outcome. Then, by applying the technologies I mentioned earlier, we can fast-track that progress to outpace recovery guidelines from traditional therapies.
The thing I’m most proud of is being able to break through chronic pain or disease and seeing people’s entire identities change. They’re no longer bound by a diagnosis!
Another interesting facet of our work is how this pain management and neurological reeducation applies to animals! I’ve been able to work with plenty of dogs, cats, horse, and even a duck. If I could make a living treating dogs, that will be just fine with me
