Damian, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Damian my journey into scalp micro pigmentation started with my own hair loss. I was only 25 when I started to notice. I began looking for a way out for a service that could help other than hair plugs or hair transplants which at the time I could not afford. By luck I happened to come across a single YouTube video about scalp micro pigmentation which at the time was not a thing in the states only over in the UK I thought wow that’s different and intriguing. Although only cosmetic and didn’t promote hair growth I understood the idea and my curiosity keep me glued to my screen. At the time I couldn’t find much info there wasn’t many videos or treatments to go off of but I knew there was tons of potential growth to this service. As years started going by my hair receding more and more scalp micro pigmentation started to grow I followed it as it finally reached the states. I was excited because I knew this service could personal help me but what I didn’t realize is that once I found my path to getting this treatment and feeling so much more confident and with such a higher self-esteem level and not dealing with a receding hairline that this treatment would change the path in my own career! As soon as I completed my treatment I bought my own machine I would practice any free time I had when I wasn’t working my normal 9-5 job. I practiced and trained night and day. For 2 years on repeat practice and train after work before work on my breaks! Until I finally decided I was ready. I completed my training and on that day I took a leap of faith into my new career my new future and quit my 9-5 job. I believe whole heartedly that this service will change the lives of many men and women. I can see the joy and happiness of my clients as they finish their treatments. This is truly a unique life changing service. Although not popular yet my goal is to one day bring this service to mainstream and share all the benefits that come along with it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a steady ride. This service is still not a well-known service. So getting it out there has been a challenge. As well as letting men know cosmetics is changing it’s not mostly just for women this is a man’s lifestyle as well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a scalp micro pigmentation practitioner. I offer a unique service into treating people who deal with male pattern baldness. As well as alopecia, scar camouflage. What sets me apart from others is that I’ve had the treatment done to myself. I know what it feels like. I also can relate to losing my hair and what my clients feel as well as the anxiety of getting a treatment that’s not well known.
It’s an amazing feeling to see men and women walk into an appointment so insecure about their own personal hair loss and to see them completely change from hanging their head, wearing a cap all the time to holding their head up high, ditching that cap. Extremely confident it’s as they transform into a whole new person. Seeing that is why I do what I do!
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
You have to be understanding. You need to relate. Be transparent with your clients. These are my best characteristics because I’ve been there I know the feeling. I understand.
