Rising Stars: Meet Jd Clark of Austin, TX

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jd Clark

Hi JD, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’m a born and raised Austinite. I grew up around my parents playing music in their band from the time I was born. Their band, Texas Fever, played in central Texas in the ‘80s and ‘90s opening up for some of the biggest country artists of the time. I started my own musical path after high school, getting back in to the music I was raised on and learned to love from them. I did a lot of solo gigs in my early twenties and then started a band over a decade ago. I’m proud to play alongside some great friends at some of the cities best venues.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say the biggest bummer would be that after years of prepping my first album, the day after the release party at White Horse the world began to shut down from Covid. It was unfortunate that we couldn’t tour and promote the album as we had hoped, but it gave me the time and solitude to write my second album which will be coming out this year.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer/songwriter, inspired by the traditional country music of the ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. I’m proud to be following in my parents footsteps and to write music that speaks to who I am.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My parents for being my introduction to the world of country music, my friends for supporting me by coming to shows and promoting me, my band for creating the full sound and bringing my words to life, and my wife-for being the business side of operations and for dealing with an artist who lives his passion.
