Today we’d like to introduce you to Jen Nguyen.
Hi Jen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you for having me today. I was born and raised in Viet Nam. I moved to the US in 2009. I didn’t start anything until I got divorced and became a single mom. I am always a person who has a lot of curiosity and passion in everything. Just like everyone else, I just want to bring the best to my loved ones. First I started applying to a community college to learn the language because I wanted to get into the nursing program. I went to college before and after my full-time job to take all the courses that were required for the nursing program. I still remember how hard it was for me to catch up with everyone in college at the time because English is my second language. Sadly, I didn’t make it into the nursing program because they required me to be a full-time student which I was not able to do because I needed to work 2 jobs to make enough income to take care of my son and my mom. At that time, I decided to launch an online lingerie shop and I named it NAR’CI with the hope that I can make enough income to pursue my education. However, my plan cannot be stronger than God’s plan. I ended up work for a Jewelry company as their content creator. I do marketing and I also got my real estate license last year. When the pandemic happened, I stayed home and tried to keep myself productive. I took online classes every day. I passed the test and became Texas Realtor which I’m doing part-time at this moment. I’m also a makeup artist with 9 years’ experience. What I am doing might be too much for a person but for me, I really enjoy my work.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road. When I started NAR’CI lingerie shop, I had no one to help me. I did everything on my own from funding, production, inventory, photoshoot, website design…hundreds of things that I need to do to start a small business. I didn’t even know exactly how it will turn out. All I know was working really hard for what I planned. I remember I didn’t go out with my friends in 1-2 years because I tried to achieve my goals. After my full-time job, I went home and continue to work on the website and everything else. I stayed up until 2 am every day. On weekend, I have to work for my second job which I do makeup.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am the owner of Nar’ci lingerie shop www.narcijen.com
I am working as a content creator. I do product photography and videography for social media marketing.
I earned my certificate in Professional Digital Marketing from Rice University of Houston
I’m Houston Realtor. I work with Abby Realty at this moment. My real estate Instagram account is @luxxy_living

What matters most to you? Why?
My family is always the most important to me. They are my fuel, without my son and my mom I won’t be able to be so strong like how I am today. To me, money comes and goes but the family remains forever.
