Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessi Mendoza
Hi Jessi, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In a nutshell, I’ve always felt an urgency to share light, hope, and kindness—not just through my own story, but by reminding people that they are worth the dreams they have for their lives. My journey has been shaped by challenges, resilience, and the incredible people around me. Through my work, my voice, and my presence, I aim to show up for others in ways that make them feel seen, valued, and capable of creating the life they want.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely been challenging. Building a platform for the podcast, getting the word out, and shaping the show into what I truly want it to be has taken a lot of trial and error. Beyond the technical and creative hurdles, there’s also the personal challenge of staying true to my voice while navigating the noise of expectations. But every struggle has reinforced why I started—because showing up, even when it’s hard, is always worth it.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
By day, I’m an engineer—truly a dream job—and outside of that, I pour my energy into writing, recording, editing, and producing my podcast. I’m also a poet and hope to eventually weave poetry into the show, along with featured guests and, eventually, a cohost.
What I’m most proud of is simply doing this. Imposter syndrome shows up often, but I keep going. Even with a small audience now, I believe in the growth ahead.
What sets me apart is my focus on real life—raw, honest experiences that remind us we’re not alone. I don’t just want to share my voice; I want to bring listeners into the conversation, making the podcast a space where stories—mine, yours, and theirs—can truly be heard.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Austin is the diversity I’m surrounded by—the different cultures, perspectives, and experiences that make this city so vibrant.
More than that, it’s the people. I’ve found an incredible community here—friends who not only encourage me to keep dreaming but actively help me find ways to turn those dreams into reality.
What I like least? The traffic. I mean, let’s be real here, right? haha
