Rising Stars: Meet Jordan Landry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Landry.

Hi Jordan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My career started out as a High School English teacher and tennis coach, which I did for 5 years. My entire life, I felt like I was supposed to teach. However, I got connected with a bakery here in Austin during my last year of teaching and ended up becoming their Director of Events and decided to temporarily stop teaching to pursue the wedding industry. It was while I was working at the bakery that I met a wedding planner and she ended up hiring me to be an Associate Planner at her company which turned into a full business partnership where I ended up owning part of the company. Unfortunately, she ended up taking the company to Dallas so I decided to look for another wedding planning company to work for and it ended up working for a Stationery company which was very fun and I learned a lot about that part of the industry. Months later, my husband and I had our first baby — Della Grace. And that was when the company Della Grace Events was born. Becoming a mom and having had experience as a teacher, an associate planner, and doing marketing at the stationery company, I realized I had all these ideas and ways I wanted to run my own company, unique things I wanted to offer from my company, and I decided to start a planning company on my own. Within the first year of being open, we booked 35 weddings and have been solidly booked out for 2022, and 2023, and I now have 3 wonderful girls working for me.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Just like in any part of life, there are learning curves and hurdles you have to go through. In the first year, I think I changed everything about my company twice over, and am still tweaking things. I’ve had to essentially learn how to run a full on business while being a stay at home mom. My couples have been very understanding of my odd schedule. Being a mom certainly comes first, and so does my family. That is really the biggest struggle for me is the constant push and pull of both. I want to give my all to everything I do and I can always do that. Owning a full time business and being a full time mom has taught me that every single day you are juggling glass and plastic. Plastic can be dropped but glass can’t, so every day when I wake up, I have to ask myself what is glass and what is plastic.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full time Wedding Planner and Designer in Austin, Tx. I love to create a lot of what I do from my former experience as a teacher as well as a design consultant to effectively and efficiently understand each couple’s vision. I try my hardest to execute every detail with an unmatched personalized and luxury experience for all my clients and all of their guests. I love and specialize in guest experiences so each one of my weddings has something fun and unique that guests can enjoy.

I pride myself in not following many trends and styles, on the contrary, I think I have a unique design style a lot of which I take from my Italian roots and I draw inspiration from the beauty of Italy. The details of my weddings is a direct the result of careful curation and research I do for each couple. No two weddings are ever the same with me, I work with a lot of different wedding pros for each wedding and try to not make this company a factory of the same over and over again.

I am committed to a very limited number of weddings and events each year in order to guarantee a thoughtful extreme personalization and absolute dedication to all clients to ensure the most exceptional delivery of the highest quality of service, which I feels each couple deserves. I have a strict policy to remain a very boutique experience no matter how large my company may grow.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people don’t know that I would do almost anything for my couples. It is so important to me that those that book with my company know that they are hiring a company that will go the extra mile, 4 miles really. I do more behind the scenes for my couples (uncharged) and things that necessarily aren’t originally offered in their booked package. I strongly believe that this is a very intimate relationship to have with people, this isn’t just a party it’s a representation of their union and the rest of their lives, and I don’t take that lightly.
