Rising Stars: Meet Karie Winfree of Austin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karie Winfree

Hi Karie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
From artist to educator to entrepreneur, my journey has been one of creativity, passion, and transformation. I began my career as an artist, finding joy in self-expression and the beauty of design. Teaching soon became my next calling, where I discovered the fulfillment of guiding others in their creative and personal growth. Now, as a professional organizer and small business owner, I blend my artistic eye and teaching experience to help individuals and businesses create functional, beautiful spaces that inspire productivity and peace. Through my work, I empower others to simplify, streamline, and thrive.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting a new business was definitely a departure from my prior life in education, but having a mentor and making friends in the small business community here in Austin has been so helpful. My advice to any new business owner would be to hire a CPA to explain all of the ins and outs and get you set up with a solid foundation to start your new venture. I took a couple of months to do this and was already starting to get busy and had a lot of catching up to do with my books at a time where I was slammed with new clients. Not ideal, but you learn and grow along the way!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a professional organizer, I help busy clients create systems to create systems that work for them. A space, whether it be a home or business needs to function for everyone who lives/ works there. I create customized solutions that fit the needs and learning styles of my clients to optimize efficiency and create harmony, both visually and spatially. I am proud of my network of wonderful clients who refer me to their friends and family. It is truly the greatest compliment to be recommended and work with such an amazing clients! What sets me apart from others is my background in design. I work to create a space that is not just functional, but also aesthetically pleasing and visually harmonious.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I have learned many lessons along the way in the eight years I’ve been in business. One of the most important is that building relationships is everything. Organizing involves a lot of trust and communication. Letting someone into your home to sort through things can be nerve wracking, so building that trust is crucial, as is having a sense of humor. We all have habits that work against our goals, myself included, so being able to relate to clients on that level puts them at ease. I am there as a coach, assistant, and accountability partner.
