Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Resh.
Hi Nicole, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Nicole Resh. I was born in Denver Colorado and raised in Austin, Texas. Creating is something that has always come natural to me. It is what brings me pure life. I was that kid who used to eat lunch in the photo room at my high school and I became very close with my photography teacher. She was the best! It was my favorite class and pretty much ever since then I have been in love with being a photographer. I always hated school and could never focus on anything academically. So. I dropped out of college a semester in and within that timing I met my mentor and production boss Stacy Scarsella. She hired me as an intern and very quickly after that I was working pretty much full time with a Plaid Pony Productions and traveled the world with them shooting behind-the-scenes content and being a production assistant. I was not only learning from the best of the best in the industry but the connections I made along the way changed my life. It truly has taught me what I know today as a photographer, director, producer and businesswoman.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely NOT. Ha! Nothing worth having comes easy or is smooth. Especially when I first started in this industry, It was scary. I never wanted to overask questions on set and be annoying so I just kicked ass and asked questions later if needed. I followed my intuition, carefully examined what others were doing on set and then I found my own niche. The production and photography industry is cutthroat. But I have honestly enjoyed every obstacle that has crossed my journey. I love a good challenge.
Being a creative, I am constantly battling with being in a creative funk, comparison and burnout. It is hard shit. I have learned that mental health is number 1 and not every job is necessary. It is OK to turn down jobs. I am slowly learning that. As well as the more you practice being in a state of relaxation, gratitude and acceptance, the more easily you’ll attract experiences and work that feel like a perfect answer to your heart and goals.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am known as Freshi Photo. People on set call me ‘Freshi’ it is even tatted on me. I wear many hats! I specialize in: Photography, Videography, Creative Directing, Producing and Editing. I am currently working for a popular Twitch Streamer named Sypher PK and I am his Visual Content Creator. I run my own business, Freshi Photo and I am still working with Plaid Pony Productions.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Stacy Scarsella-My production boss. We have been through quite a lot together. She has taught me so much. Extremely thankful for her! Also my mom. From a very young age my mom showed me that hard work pays off. She is the hardest working person I know. I get my work ethic from her.
Almost every time I am out and about I run into someone who tells me how much they love my work and find me inspiring and it just catches me off guard every single time because I am like “Who? Me?!”. It’s so insane and sweet.
