Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Marmion
Hi Olivia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a native Texan, wife, mama, foodie, and artist. I began OM NOM MOM on Instagram in 2019 when I realized I had a story to tell. In 2019 I already had a 17-year-old daughter, then my husband and I shook things up by bringing in baby girl number two! I knew this would be a fun adventure, and so, I decided to share this new journey of motherhood with the world, and also include the two other facets that make me, ME: art and food! Thus, OM NOM MOM was born! OM is for Olivia Marmion, the creative; NOM is for me as a foodie; and MOM is for being a mom of now 3 incredible daughters.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I started this journey for fun and to connect with other mamas, and I always told myself that the moment it stops becoming enjoyable and more of a chore, it’s not worth it. Motherhood is challenging enough, so OM NOM MOM is my outlet- a way to share, connect, giggle a little, and inspire others. So, the road has been pretty smooth, by design. I will say, however, that it has been a struggle to grow and sustain my following. It is so tempting to just follow the viral trends in hopes of becoming a sensation overnight, but as a creator, there are ebbs and flows of creative inspiration– and that’s how I put out my content. Though I don’t post as frequently as social media best practices would suggest, the ones who stay with me and have been rocking with me from the beginning are who I show up in originality and excellence for– I love my circle of followers, turned friends!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My platform specializes in crafts, food, family, and fun! I’m known for my original crafts and family fun ideas. What sets me apart is being a creative and mom of 3 girls ages 22, 5, and 3. I am most proud of being able to do what I love as a mom and share it with the world as a Mompreneur! I leverage my social media platform for fun brand deals, create and manage fun products for kids and families sold in my Etsy shop, and I am a new author of a children’s book entitled, “What’s True? At Bedtime” to be released September 1st, 2024!
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
When I learned that you could turn social media into a business, I immediately joined a Black Moms group that supported my growth and understanding of the journey. I advise anyone to look for groups within your niche to seek guidance, build with, and at the very least provide you with a sense of community because it can be hard out here in these social media streets!
