Today we’d like to introduce you to Reuben Gallegos Jr. Aka Big Rome.
Hi Reuben , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
As a child I always loved to see my family bbq because it always brought everyone together.. I’ve been backyard grilling since 2000 and I always loved experimenting on diffrent flavor profiles that I liked as a kid. I loved it when family would come over and try my bbq. Just seeing there smile in there face made me happy.. In 2016 my best friend Pauli told me that I should share my passion for bbq.. At first I was not interested until his passing. I needed something to do and realized bbq was my therapy that kept me busy. Thats when I started doing YouTube videos and going live on Facebook on my cooks and shared my seasonings I used to cook with.. I 2021 I started my catering business and did Pop up in DFW to grow my brand.. I was asked that I should have my own seasoning since they loved my bbq so I decided to get my Sazón out . My first seasoning was called Big Rome’s Competition Sazón. It became a hit so I decided to get another flavor profile which was called Steak Sazón. Since then I have 4 different flavors that are great for your backyard and Competition needs. These seasonings are award winning and recently our Competition Sazón was ranked 25 in the World at the American Royal of Barbecue. My first store that introduced my our Sazón is Joes Meat Market in Royse City TX. He supports alot of small businesses like us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well it wasn’t easy especially when. you have to get all your requirements for co-packing and getting insured to protect your business but when you have passion for what you do it eas fun to me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Employee Relationship Manager and I help clients understand there bank benefits. I use our digital capabilities to provide solutions. I love building relationships with clients. What sets me apart from others is my passion to help people grow.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Well as a BBQ influencer I have been involved in many bbq events in helping small businesses grow. This has aloud for doors to open for what I do.
