Today we’d like to introduce you to Rylie Jouett.
Hi Rylie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It honestly all started with playing dress-up as a little girl. From the moment I was able to dress myself, I used clothes as a way to express my creativity. Soon, my closet began to overflow with fun, statement pieces, so much so that I decided to start selling on Depop. And so Deja Vu Vintage was born! Through selling online, I realized how much I enjoyed having an active digital space to showcase my style and interests. All this time spent online quickly blossomed into me (accidentally) becoming a social media content creator, sharing thrift finds and sustainable product recommendations. With this, I was able to leave my back-breaking nine to five and fully embrace the lifestyle of a digital nomad. Having an online presence has opened up so many doors in my life and allowed me to pursue all of my wildest dreams – Set Styling, Modeling, Personal Styling, and Creative Strategy at Palm Influencer Agency. If you’re thinking about quitting your job, DO IT! There will always be better things waiting for you, you just have to take the leap!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The path to financial freedom is definitely not smooth. Freelance work is sometimes even harder than your regular nine to five, in that you’re quite literally always on call. I regularly fall victim to spreading myself a bit too thin at times so time management is key. I feel like it’s definitely something that I’ll have to continue to work on and get better at.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m currently working as a Creative Strategist at an influencer agency called Palm. I specialize in coming up with strategies to streamline brand and influencer connections based on their values and interests, as well as creating solutions to help navigate the social media landscape. My mission at Palm is to help create and facilitate an inclusive meeting space where brands and creators feel heard, understood, and seen – which sets us apart from pretty much everyone else in the industry! I’m most proud of how far we’ve come building out the new elements of the agency this year. Our team is quite small so every victory counts!
Any big plans?
I’m actually feeling quite content with where I’m at right now if I’m being honest. That being said, I still have so much to learn! Out of all the things I do for work, I feel most aligned with set design and I hope to gain more experience working in the film industry in the near future.
