Today we’d like to introduce you to Sage Bara.
Hi Sage, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Being in the performing arts my whole life set the tone for creativity and an eye for beauty in all areas of my personal and professional life. As a natural self-starter and avid do-it-yourselfer floral arranging appeared in my life early on. Creating for my home, community festivals, and performance productions became a regular part of my bag of tricks, and friends and relatives began asking me to create for their events and celebrations. I honed my skills and studied the process of floral care over the years while I ran my school of the arts. I am completely self-taught and after much trial and error, often going the long way around, I arrived at a level that allowed me to jump in the professional waters. It has been a most rewarding journey creating beautiful experiences for the most significant events in our client’s lives. Belle Soul Florals is celebrating our eleventh anniversary this month.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am definitely of the mindset to focus on the positive and while no journey is perfect mine has been rich with love, creativity, connection, and expansion. Learning on the job and being willing to adjust, self-evaluate, and solve has helped me navigate the speed bumps along the road. I tease that I am a “tortured artist” and I obsess and hold myself to the highest standard at all times. While this trait can be challenging for me personally, it has led to Belle Soul Florals having a reputation for detailed artistry and a heartfelt commitment to our clients.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a creator of fine art floral artistry, my job is definitely my bliss. I have to speak in terms of “we” at this point because there is an amazing team that makes up Belle Soul Florals. We specialize in bespoke wedding designs that are unique to each client. Our signature style is effortless, organic, and magical. We love to create designs that look like they grew there or were gathered by hand. All our designs have an enchanted quality that reflects the romance of a wedding, dreams into reality, and a reverence for the day. I am most proud of our family business. Getting to work with my loved ones and friends that I’ve known for years is the greatest gift. Knowing I have a team of artists that I can trust is huge. What sets me apart from others? Artistically I try not to compare, however, over the years, what I have heard from our clients is my communication. Prompt replies, willingness to engage in the planning process, and sharing advice. Plus, I have been known to talk a few brides down from the ledge much to the relief of their mothers and fiances.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Interesting question. For me “luck” appears more as “synchronicity”. I am an advocate of manifesting my dreams and desires and then being ready to receive the inspirations that lead me to them. I pay attention to what feels good and lean in there. I am looking for the downstream path of least resistance. Especially working with clients who are all unique individuals in a highly emotional state, There have been so many moments in my life that have been described as kismet, synchronicity, or straight-up magical. Getting to experience those moments on a regular basis is one of the real joys of my life. I am so appreciative that I can recognize and acknowledge those moments, signs, and inspirations.
