Today we’d like to introduce you to Sari Beall.
Hi Sari, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a creative soul — seeing the mundane and searching for ways to make it extraordinary. Discovering the beauty in the little things is what life is all about! I love to create, whether that be photography, writing, or most recently, user experience/user interface design. My degree from the University of Texas at Austin is in nutrition and business. I loved learning nutrition but felt I was missing my creative-side in work. I’ve been a photographer, social media manager, and now, I’m studying to become a UX/UI designer. My passions are many, and for the longest time, I thought I had to choose — but the secret is: there is no limit on the passions you can pursue in this life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been so smooth. Finding my way has taken a lot of trial and error. I’m thankful and grateful to have my family’s support along the way. Most of the reason why I’ve been able to try so many things is because of the unwavering support from my parents. Now, I feel like I’m living my truth and doing exactly what I’m meant to!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a photographer (By Sari Lane), writer, and UX designer. My photography roots started in high school — I loved taking senior portraits and going on creative photoshoots with friends. Now, I take senior portraits, couple portraits, and fashion portraits. I’ve been a strong writer for as long as I can remember, and I credit my mom for that. I love to read and write poetry. I hope to publish work someday so stay tuned for that! UX design is an emerging field that I learned about in 2019. I was interested in learning more for a while and decided to take the time to learn it when the pandemic hit. Best decision of 2020 by far! I’m almost graduated from my program and can’t wait to see where my career takes me. The common theme between all of these creative endeavors is storytelling. I hope to convey emotion from my work and inspire others to do the same. I’m most proud of my magazine and podcast features for my creative passions. Getting recognized by my community is the best feeling and motivates me to keep creating.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I feel empathy is the most important quality to my success. Understanding my client, whether that be in photography or design, helps me create the best end product for them. Having that human connection is a standard I set for myself moving forward in any creative form or fashion.
