We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Growing up in the hood, I was like a gypsy. My grandma took me all over the place from Peru, Queens, New Jersey, Newark Brooklyn. These streets were rough. There was not a day that went by that I fought, they waited for me after school everyday, sometimes there were four or five guys waiting for me. So I would run out the back door of my school, but was bullied so it made me who I am today a rough homeboy that had to grow up pretty fast. Through great friends and therapy and music, I have changed but the fire and passion remain very deep inside of me like a scar. We all have a story and a struggle, I am not afraid to talk about it; I am not the same man I was yesterday. Music is my world, writing, producing, and DJing. I owe my life to my grandma. She was the first human being that bought me my vinyl and it was my first Madonna record with Shep Pettibone’s name on it, along with Junior Vasquez. Those two guys were my heroes, my therapists when I couldn’t afford one. The Original Sound factory Night Club was my sanctuary. It was the Studio 54 of my time back in New York City. When New York City was New York City!
The music industry is brutal blood sweat and tears but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It has made me the man I am today. The entertainment business is hard, i have been in the game for over 20 years plus, i started out writing poems in my bedroom as a kid in Jersey, and that eventually turned into lyrics, then i connected with other writers in New York city and New jersey and began to build a foundation, but it happened organically. It was a way to express myself. It saved my life. Music saved my life. I never give myself any credit, I think most of us don’t . but these days i do. I encourage all musicians whether a DJ, Songwriter, Painter, anyone in the arts. to keep going, but through the process ask yourself why? If it’s pure love and passion then go for it full force.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I was born in New Jersey with New York City in my sightline, i took advantage of my proximity by sneaking, at the age of 13, into Manhattan through port authority on 42 st. and hanging out at clubs like The Building, Mars, Red Zone, Disco 2000 and the original Sound Factory on West 27th Street. i am a songwriter, producer, re-mixer and an international DJ that has spun in well known venues is major cities such as: New York City, Miami, Chicago, Montreal, Beijing, Hong Kong, Rio de Janeiro, Shanghai, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok, Rome, Vienna, and beyond, Today Sin Morera calls Austin home. and continues to travel worldwide for work.
As far as being an activist, Life Ball is one of the biggest and most spectacular annual charity events in the world. It has attracted strong international interest and attention. The main priority of the Life Ball is not only the exuberant celebration of the people partying or spectacular live acts, but the ongoing fight against AIDS. To ensure that the meaning of this major event is not forgotten, the opening ceremony on Vienna’s City Hall square includes moments of silence and speeches by international stars and partners, which focus on raising awareness for AIDS. Since the establishment of this society highlight, which has become a real tradition, numerous celebrities (designers, actors, musicians, politicians, and models) show their personal commitment to the issue with breathtaking live performances, sending a strong signal of solidarity. They make use of their popularity and position as role models for a good cause. I do it because I love to help people. I have been blessed to remain HIV negative.
These days I manage myself, I’m launching my own label and collaborating with a handful of talented up and coming producers around the world.
What separates me from others? I have 30 plus years in the game, i have lived in 3 different countries and speak 3 languages, my rolodex is full of very powerful people in the game. I’m not here to brag, I’m here to tell readers and inspiring artists that it’s very important to stay focused and be hands on. a lot of these guys are so talented but have no people skills , this is a huge problem, it does not matter how strong or powerful you think your work is unless you get out there to represent it. like i said i do everything but i think it might be time to get a manager on my end these days.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
AI Djs? We are living in a world where everyone wants to be a DJ. not everyone will make it. In the end it’s a combination of how much you put yourself out there, like i said earlier how much music you put out there and who you know. way too many DJ’s, not enough venues. It’s a saturated market and these are facts. You must ask yourself what I’m doing differently than the next guy? Be original . be powerful be you! I will continue my journey and retire at some point. honestly with AI. I feel like all who have worked so hard on Vocals ( Spending Time and Money going to a vocal coach to work on their craft or learning to beat match with 2 turntables without the sync button, which every program or controller has built in. has taken away the art of djing. everyone stands around with their cocktail in their hands having the controler mix it up for ya…. But, I’ve taken these tools and have added them to my sets and it allows me to be more creative. So the moral of the story is I know work with all these tools and embrace them.
