We’re looking forward to introducing you to David T. Stevens. Check out our conversation below.
Hi David T., thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Horseback Riding. You have to be so present and you can’t strong arm or force anything when it comes to an animal that weighs multiple times your bodyweight. It;’s such a great metaphor for leadership.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m David T. Stevens, a wellness event architect and co-founder of Olympian Meeting. My work focuses on bringing the four pillars of wellness: mindfulness, movement, meals, and meaning, into the heart of meetings and events. What makes our approach unique is that we don’t see wellness as a side perk, but as the foundation for real engagement and ROI. Right now, I’m especially passionate about showing organizations how intentional wellness design can transform events from something people endure into something they remember, rave about, and return to.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
In my world of events I see broken people on the regular. What I see breaks bonds between people is exhaustion, distraction, and transactional interactions that feel forced. What restores them is presence, purpose, and shared experiences that create genuine connection. At events, when we build space for mindful moments, movement, nourishing meals, and meaningful conversations, people leave feeling connected instead of depleted.
What have been the defining wounds of your life—and how have you healed them?
My dad passed when I was 21. I know it doesn’t sound that early but it was during a transformational time. I was going through a career change and getting a divorce. He was a pillar in my life and always had great advice. As I was navigating that monumental change, I realized I had to now figure out things on my own and to chase what mattered to me most and that life was too short to do anything less than what brought you joy.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
1,000,000% In the wellness space there is a lot of talk about “masking” and that is something I just have never done. I have always been me regardless of if I was accepted or well liked by everyone. To be honest, I probably would be further along had I not been as authentic to myself as I am, but by being true to me, I avoided anything less than meaningful real relationships.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Nothing, I absolutely love my life and the way I live it.
