Hidden Gems: Meet Randi Marks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Randi Marks.

Hi Randi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After graduating with an English Degree from UT Austin, I went back to school to become a Massage Therapist. Growing up in a family of physicians, it felt natural for me to be in a healing role where I was helping others. I worked in the spa world for a decade learning as much as I could before starting my private practice in 2012. During my time at the spa, my mother passed away after a seven-year battle with cancer. Her death woke something up deep inside of me, giving me the courage to go out on my own and changing the trajectory of my life. I received an intuitive message the day she died that my purpose going forward was to teach people how to go beyond their physical bodies and heal on the mental, emotional, and spiritual planes. I quickly pivoted my practice 100% into working with Energetics–which I am still doing to this day. Although I am no longer working as a Massage Therapist, all of my experience and skills continue to be an integral part of my work.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Entrepreneurship is not an easy path, but definitely one worth taking. There are highs and lows and times when things feel so overwhelming that you want to give up. As a one-woman operation, I am responsible for every part of the business. So not only am I seeing clients, but I’m also working nonstop behind the scenes to make sure my business is functioning and thriving. Running a business challenges you as a person, especially as a woman. There were times at the beginning when I had to choose my work over my children which led to feelings of intense guilt. Being a female entrepreneur, there is data to support how financial well-being affects your sense of worthiness and levels of success. So on top of making sure my family clients and practice are ok, I also have to make sure that I am ok emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. With all of this being said, I wouldn’t have it any other way. As challenging as it can be, I can’t imagine doing anything else. It has been the most rewarding experience. I have learned so much about myself in running my own business that I’m sure I wouldn’t have learned if I were in an office setting working for someone else.

We’ve been impressed with Randi Marks, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have been in Austin for almost thirty years and feel proud to serve this community that I love so much. My offerings include Shamanic + Energy Healing, Intuitive Readings, Ceremonial Healing, Destiny Guidance, Tarot Readings, and Spiritual Retreats. My extensive background in healing, meditation, working with client’s nervous systems, trauma, and suffering takes my work to deeper and more profound levels. Clients tend to come see me when they’re stuck, paralyzed, grieving, emotionally depleted, shifting careers, experiencing a divorce or break-up, going through a spiritual awakening, or feel that things are completely falling apart.

What makes me so proud is seeing a client step through my door with the courage to change their lives. Working on yourself is no easy task. There are going to be things you don’t want to see about yourself and outdated beliefs you’ll have to let go. But this work is necessary if you want to live a life of peace, joy, and balance. My work strives to bring uplifting outcomes, transformation, and new ways of seeing life and your place in it. Although I am not a therapist, clients have told me that our time together is better than therapy. Something profound happens when you can articulate what is disturbing you and then immediately receive healing work to shift the energy into a new direction.

I am able to take clients on this life-changing soul journey because I have done this work for myself. I know that it works because it has changed my life in profound ways. Sharing my gifts and my wisdom with others is why I get up every day. I currently work with clients in my Austin Studio and by Phone. Group spiritual retreats are coming soon!

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
At age 19, I thought my career would be as a serious News Producer. During an interview at NBC in New York City, I was offered the only internship opening at the time with a guy named Conan O’Brien. Maybe you’ve heard of him? At the time, no one knew who he was unless you knew the entire writing staff at SNL. My big 19-year-old Ego turned down the internship position because “who the heck is Conan O’Brien?” This was a sliding doors moment for me.
