Today we’d like to introduce you to Trece Spalten.
Thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, how did you get started?
I became aware of my expanded intuitive perception at a very young age, knowing about things that surprised the adults around me, whether because I knew something I shouldn’t or what would happen. It ultimately led me to question how exactly I was getting this information. In fact, in 4th grade, I would routinely make predictions about the day and the near future to my friend and next-door neighbor whom I walked to school with every morning, and one day, I told her it was going to snow in San Antonio, TX where we lived on Christmas that year. That unlikely prediction made its way from my friend to her girl scout group to a radio dj, of all people, who tracked me down via landline to make that prediction on air. Well, it did snow that year in San Antonio on Christmas (even if it was just a few flakes), and the radio dj invited me to the show three times a week to predict the weather, which I did for the next 5 years. People would call into the station to say that they don’t listen to the weatherman anymore, just my show, and when pressed for how I was making these predictions, I replied, “I just look out the window and see how I feel.”
Amusingly, this story of me predicting snow and landing on the radio made its way to a playwright who wrote a short musical about me and my story, completed with a professional score, that was performed by a small group of actors in Chicago, nearly 30 years later.
Over the next many years of my childhood and adolescence, I sought out everything I could about intuition, psychic abilities, metaphysical spirituality, and consciousness. I was that weird kid, squared. I even rode my bike to psychic fairs at new age stores across town to meet other people who could relate and hopefully help me understand. I was fortunate to meet several wonderful and highly influential people who took me under their wings and taught me what they knew and how to turn my abilities into skills.
I continued to offer readings while earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology, then taught in Montessori education, then became a massage therapist. At that point, my client base had grown considerably. I began offering intuitive guidance and healing work full-time in 2015. I continued to deepen my practice through certification as an ancestral lineage healing practitioner and accreditation in somatic trauma therapy.
Today, I still give readings and connect with loved ones in the afterlife for my clients. Still, because my work is a unique constellation of intuitive guidance, spiritual healing, somatic practice, psychology, neuroscience, education, and life coaching, I’ve started referring to my work as integrative spiritual care.
We all face challenges, but would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Divinely guided? Magically synchronistic? Yes. Smooth, not so much. While I was doing psychic development practices and sneaking tarot cards into my bedroom, my parents had no idea what to do with me. They weren’t opposed to what they considered my “strange” interests but weren’t supportive of it by any stretch of the imagination. Plus, in addition to being psychic, I also knew that I was gay, and that ended up being too much for my parents to accept. My relationship with my parents has been one the biggest and most persistent challenges of my life, though we are still in contact and do our best to be in a relationship.
My deep dive into the world of intuition and spirituality was also before our current, massive explosion of all things metaphysical (who doesn’t have a life coach/psychic/healer on call or even their deck of tarot cards these days?). I am married to a wonderful partner of nearly 10 years and have long-lasting, genuine friendships with several incredible people. So I struggled a lot with feeling as if I belonged anywhere. It did take a lot of work, healing, and therapy to get there, though.
Ironically, now that all of this has become so common and mainstream, I also struggle with the misinformation that gets spread around as “divine guidance” or “massive downloads” with potentially disastrous consequences. I’m a strong proponent of natural, grounded spirituality that supports living life more fully, with more presence, not an escape into fantasy or spiritual bypassing.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us more about your business.
My work aims to help people restore their sense of self, reclaim their inner compass, and realize their life vision. This happens through Soul Guidance sessions that combine intuitive guidance, mediumship, and life coaching to clarify important issues and questions while inviting your intuitive sense to be present. In Personal Healing sessions, we heal and resolve unhealthy patterns through functional energy work, somatic practice, and establishing an embodied connection to your sources of spiritual guidance. Including and yet also expanding beyond personal healing is Ancestral Healing which serves to address intergenerational traumas and burdens by first coming into a relationship with deep sources of ancestral wellness in your direct lineages. I often say that ancestral healing is what most people are looking for but need to know to ask about. If you’ve “done your work” through therapy and other healing practices and still have recurring issues, it’s often an ancestral pattern. Finally, I offer a Soul Gifts & Life purpose reading that combines astrology and tarot to clarify your life vision, a reading called “a flashlight, a roadmap, and a permission slip to embrace your life.” I am deeply committed to grounded, embodied, and effective spiritual care that meets people right where they are in life so they can grow in real and authentic ways.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned that following your intuition can feel hard. I’ve learned that being spiritual isn’t about being perfect. It’s about presence. I’ve even learned that having integrity and being a good person is far more important than having any powers or abilities, no matter what they are. Most of all, I’ve learned that a big, huge, divine love is poured out onto everyone and everything without exception, even when I don’t like it, which is more often than I like to admit. Life’s messy on purpose.
