Chrissy DePauw shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Chrissy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Half of my clients tell me they never had a reason to do a boudoir shoot… until now.
And most of them? Future brides.
But here’s the thing—why are we waiting for a ring to feel sexy, confident, and celebrated? Yes, boudoir makes the ultimate wedding gift… but it’s also a gift you can give yourself any day of the year. I just wish more women knew that!
Case in point: one of my recent clients booked a birthday session. She’s single, but she’s manifesting her dream partner and wanted to see herself in a whole new light—one that celebrates her beauty, her sensuality, and her full, unapologetic confidence.
You don’t need a milestone. You are the milestone.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Chrissy—photographer, hype woman, and the face behind Chrissy René Studios in Round Rock, TX.
I photograph women who often don’t yet realize they’re absolute baddies… and then watch their jaws drop when they see what I see.
My boudoir style? Minimal, modern, and all about you. No clutter. No distractions. Just clean, editorial vibes inspired by fashion photography which I’m drawn to because of that unmistakable air of confidence. .
And when you see yourself as confident, your whole world shifts. And that is my ultimate goal!
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Definitely my dad. He was a quiet, hardworking man with flashes of playfulness, and when he let loose, he could be so funny. But what stands out most is that he always saw me as capable of anything.
He never treated me like a fragile little girl. Instead, he had me out building things with him, fixing what was broken, doing yard work—and he was patient every step of the way. He loved teaching me about whatever we were working on, and in doing so, he taught me to believe in my own abilities. Now I have his 68’ Dodge Dart and although I know nothing about muscle cars yet, I’m confident I can learn 😆
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Music was my safe place. Still is.
If Sade starts playing, I feel 50 pounds leave my chest.
Honestly, humans hit the jackpot with music… and puppies. Can’t forget the puppies.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Them first. Puppies second.
Surrounding myself with cozy vibes, pretty spaces and 90’s r&b blasting, time to enjoy making music, art, and quality time with the people who fill me up!
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
My laugh! My totally ridiculous, not-even-real laugh that gets them really laughing.
Hey, I do what I gotta do!
Honestly, photographing a grown adult isn’t all that different from photographing a kid—you still have to pull genuine expressions out of them on demand. And when it’s fake? You can tell. So over the years, I’ve collected a few tricks… and my “crazy witch laugh” is one of the greatest hits.
Whenever I photograph someone for the second time, they always mention how much they appreciate me going the extra mile—yes, even if it means cackling like I just brewed a questionable potion.
