Check Out Amanda Dayton’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Dayton.

Hi Amanda, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Wild Chicken Branding Co. was born from a dream my sister, Ali, and I shared long before we ever owned a branding iron. We wanted to build something together that honored where we came from while creating a life that allowed us to raise our families alongside one another, embrace creativity, and stay rooted in the values we were raised with.

As sixth-generation Texans, our family’s story is deeply woven into this place. We grew up surrounded by southern traditions, hardworking people, and the belief that the things made by hand—and made with intention—carry the most meaning. We wanted to preserve that spirit while creating something that felt fresh, interactive, and uniquely ours.

When I stepped away from my corporate career, it became an opportunity to take a leap of faith. Together, we built Wild Chicken Branding Co. around the idea that people are longing for experiences that feel genuine and personal. What started as a simple concept has grown into a mobile branding bar that travels across Texas, partnering with resorts, corporate events, weddings, and community celebrations to create meaningful keepsakes and lasting memories.

At its heart, this business has never been just about leather or branding. It’s about legacy. It’s about slowing down, telling stories, celebrating craftsmanship, and giving people a chance to create something they’ll treasure. Every event is an opportunity to share a little piece of Texas hospitality, and we’re incredibly grateful that what began as a dream between two sisters has grown into a business that allows us to live out the life we hoped to build together.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I wish I could say it’s been a smooth road, but I don’t think many entrepreneurs would believe me! There were plenty of moments where we wondered if we’d completely lost our minds.

Learning the art of hot iron branding was its own adventure. There was no handbook. Just two determined sisters, a lot of scrap leather, countless hours of practice, and, admittedly, a few singed fingers and a handful of badly burned test products along the way. Thankfully, our technique improved much faster than our burn collection.

The physical learning curve was the easy part.

The harder challenge was having the courage to leave the comfort of familiar careers and build something entirely from scratch. Entrepreneurship asks you to bet on yourself long before anyone else does. There are days when confidence comes easily, and others when grit is the only thing carrying you forward. We’ve learned that perseverance isn’t about never questioning yourself but rather about choosing to keep showing up anyway.

Through every challenge, we’ve come back to the same reason we started. This business was never just about branding leather. It was about building a life that reflects our values—a life where we could raise our families close together, celebrate our Texas heritage, create with our hands, and hopefully leave something meaningful for our children to see one day. Looking back, every setback, every lesson, and yes, every burn mark, has been worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At its core, Wild Chicken Branding Co. is about helping people tell their story through the things they carry.

We specialize in mobile branding experiences where guests can personalize leather goods, hats, boots, and keepsakes with custom brands, initials, or meaningful marks. While we offer a curated collection of heirloom-quality leather goods, some of our favorite moments happen when guests bring something that’s already part of their story—a well-worn pair of boots, a treasured belt, a saddle bag, or a piece they’ve carried for years—and give it new life through personalization.

That philosophy is deeply personal to us.

After losing both of our parents, we’ve come to realize that the everyday objects they left behind have become some of our most treasured possessions. A wallet worn smooth from years of use. A favorite jacket. A handwritten note tucked into a drawer. These aren’t valuable because they’re expensive—they’re valuable because they carry the fingerprints of a life well lived. They tell a story.

We believe the things we use every day can become tomorrow’s heirlooms if we choose them with intention and fill them with meaning. The personal effects we carry often outlive us, becoming tangible reminders of who we were for the people we love. In many ways, they’re the artifacts of an ordinary life made extraordinary by the memories attached to them.

That’s what we’re most proud of. We aren’t simply customizing products, we’re helping people create future heirlooms. Every brand we press into leather is meant to mark more than an object; it’s meant to mark a memory. We hope that years from now, someone picks up one of those pieces, smiles, and remembers the person who carried it.

That’s what sets Wild Chicken Branding Co. apart. We don’t believe personalization is about putting your name on something. We believe it’s about leaving a story behind.

How do you think about happiness?
Authenticity makes us happy.

As we’ve gotten older, we’ve realized that the things that matter most aren’t the biggest milestones—they’re the ordinary moments that become extraordinary because you’re fully present for them. Sitting around a campfire with family. Sharing stories with someone you’ve just met. Watching our children grow up alongside one another. Laughing until your cheeks hurt at the end of a long day.

Building Wild Chicken Branding Co. gave us the opportunity to create a life that feels deeply rooted in who we are instead of who we thought we were supposed to be.

Some of our greatest joy comes from connecting with people. We love hearing their stories, sharing a laugh, and watching complete strangers gather around our branding table and leave as friends. Those moments remind us that, despite all our differences, people are ultimately searching for the same things: connection, belonging, and something that feels real.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that a meaningful life isn’t built by chasing more. It’s built by being fully present for what’s right in front of you. That’s what makes us happiest, and it’s the feeling we hope people take home with them after every Wild Chicken event.
