Today we’d like to introduce you to Amya Bourgeois
Hi Amya, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was a little girl I always knew I wanted to create. I knew that was something that fueled me and made me happy.. it gave me something to look forward to EVER SINGLE DAY. YouTube was one thing that I would always watch and I felt so inspired seeing other girls my age doing what I wanted to do. So one day (behind my mother’s back haha) I created a YouTube channel. I would post whenever I could or whenever I would visit my grandma for the summer. She was and still is very supportive of everything I do! I started off just posting vlogs and hair/makeup videos. I have dibbled and dabbled in many different things; I’ve done hair, makeup, self care , self help and cooking videos! With doing YouTube, came TikTok and Instagram! But I started to stray away from content creation and started getting into making music, art and jewelry which is what I do now!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been a smooth road and it still isn’t. I’ve had many obstacles but many aids as well. I’ve moved several times; originally from New Orleans, Then went to Memphis, then Slidell (a small city in Louisiana) , then Houston and now currently Austin. I feel like no one REALLY tells you how hard running a buissness is or even just trying to stick and stay consistent with something all to feel like it’s not working out. Some struggles I had along the way were: not seeing growth with my business and not feeling recognized. It’s true what they say “Consistency is key”. I’m here to tell you just stick to it and eventually it will pay off!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently right now I am an aspiring piercer, actress and jewelry designer! I also produce and make music which you can find on my YouTube! I also paint and write poems from time to time! I’m most proud of going through with all my ideas and not setting any limits on myself. You can do WHATEVER you put your mind to!! What sets me apart is my edgy style and bubbly personality (not to brag on myself but) when I walk in the room I immediately light it up. My energy is pure gold.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Haha I love this question. My favorite memory has to be when my family and I would meet up at my grandmas house during the summer and just spend time with each other. Those karaoke late nights and good old fashioned meals from grandma. Nothing compares to it!
