Today we’d like to introduce you to Angeletho.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Honestly, I started like sophomore year cause my homies were into SoundCloud and underground rap at the time and wanted to make some songs. So I helped my mom’s friends sell his motorcycle on Craigslist and he gave me $500 and I bought a little studio set up and ran it off my mom’s old laptop for a while but when it came time to step up to the mic only two homies got up there and had some so I was like yoo we might have some here so we ran with it. Few weeks later, my friend Kinney introduced me to our friend Eli (Yung Xantos) who’s an Artist/Producer and he was like bro, I heard you write music and sh*t. So they made me, I guess rap and it was my first song ever but it got up to 500 plays and I said alright then took creative writing the remainder of high school and yea then my homies who took choir or could already sing and rap helped me work on my flow, lyricism, rhythm, Beats, etc. and then people just started sharing it and listening more and hitting me up for studio time and some features then this happened I honestly didn’t expect for some like this to happen you know?
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been a roller coaster kinda like sometimes I’ll go like days, weeks sometimes months without doing anything cause just don’t feel inspired enough or everything sounds like sad as f*ck and I’m not trynna like make the same sounds over and over. But also trynna step out that comfort zone when working with new people cause it’s like, ah this either gonna be like a some cool or time to waste but for the most part, it’s been pretty chill. I feel like I picked it up pretty quick cause I already knew like piano and music theory.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I guess if people know me for some, it’s making songs more really than producing but I’m all over the place really. I honestly don’t know how to explain it, it’s weird but I’d say I’m most proud of this one beat I made where I sampled Mr. Rogers last episode where he’s saying goodbye and the synths and choir come in just so cool. I can’t really say I’d stand out or set apart from others. I just do what I think sounds cool to me and that’s all I never saw myself doing music and I’m sure it’s the same with many but yea I just do whatever I want really cause I got my own equipment and stuff so no can really be like oh you can’t post this or that’s weak just do what I do.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
A lot of family and personal sh*t that I won’t really get into but I guess quite a bit bad and good have had their fair share.
