Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna.
Hi Anna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Let me start by saying Thank You for giving me the opportunity to share a little bit of my story with the people.
I’ll make this short n sweet because I know we all have things to do today! Ever since I was a kid I’ve been infatuated with music. Growing up in the 90’s there was MTV so you know that was a big influence on a little girl with dreams. I started writing first. I went from writing poems to full blown songs. Intros, verses, hooks, bridges, outros. I didn’t even have beats to these songs they were just coming from whatever melody I had in my head at the time. Crazy, I actually brought some of those songs to life and they are the first ones I put out when I started honing in on my craft. Go listen. They’re pretty rough because I had just started and the way these songs were produced was wild, but you make it work with what you got. They’re there to show my progress and how my sound as an artist has evolved throughout the years, so I don’t ever want to remove them even though sometimes it’s a little cringe when I listen to them haha! Just being real. Thank goodness for real right? I’m not an AI artist. Yes, shade. Anyway- here I am today. Thankful I’m alive, healthy and able to do what I love. Still honing, still writing, still creating sounds and visuals. I have a new single coming out so make sure you follow me on all socials and stay tuned for that!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’m an Independent Artist. And with that, comes a lot of self management. It’s definitely tough. And expensive for sure! Balancing real life and a dream has its struggles, but I’m a Libra so there’s that!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an Independent Music Artist, we create sounds and visuals from personal experiences, stories, thoughts, artwork. We’re like open diaries. We share our mind with the world. Some artists have a specific sound. I’m not one of them. I sing and I rap. Sometimes I get in the booth and go hard like Z-Ro and sometimes I show up on some Jessie Reyez or Melanie Martinez type vibes. I’m very versatile. That’s just my style, me and my personality. Or personalities I should say. “Get you somebody that can do both” right?
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Oof! Get in my feels with this question. Apart from the music, a favorite childhood memory would be when all of my family members would come together for our annual family reunion. I come from a Hispanic family so it’s very big. I loved it! Catching up and what not. We don’t do that anymore – with life and such it’s hard for us to come together at the same time. We are all with each other in spirit though and I pray for their health and continued success.
