Check Out Deandre “SipTheKid” Smith’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deandre “SipTheKid” Smith.

Hi Deandre, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Deandre “SipTheKid” Smith and I was born in Waterloo, Iowa. Im an actor, reality tv star and emcee/host. I started taking acting serious in 2017. In 2017 I got my first role in a movie and I knew ever since then that this was my purpose. In 2018 I lost my mom and younger brother to gun violence. After loosing them i decided that I have to chase my dream for them, my kids and my wife. Since taking acting serious I have appeared in over fifteen movies , three big television shows, brand campaigns and commercials. I am Player 181 on Netflix hit reality show Squid Game The Challenge. I have appeared on a tv show with Jay Leno, I have worked with celebrities such as Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Mr.Beast ,50 Cent , Kel Mitchell and more.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely was not a smooth road. I come from a small town and I had no one to ask for advice and I had to learn about the entertainment business on my own. I had to work extra hard to find opportunities because I live in a small town. After I lost my mom and brother I was diagnosed with Major Depression Disorder and PTSD. You have to fight through that while chasing a dream. There has been so many times I wanted to give up on my dreams. With being an actor I have been told no and rejected countless times. There are times when I go months without an opportunity and it can make you want to give up. The biggest struggle is to keep trying when you been told no and feel like maybe this isn’t for me. Sometimes rejection can make you feel like you not good enough or maybe this isn’t really your purpose.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an actor, reality tv star and emcee/host. I am most known for being Player 181 on Netflix hit show Squid Game The Challenge. I am most proud that I decided to chase my dream and I didn’t let trauma stop me. What set me apart is that I feel like I can overcome anything. I lost my mom and younger brother just months apart to gun violence in 2018. I know the average person would have given up on life and not been motivated to keep going. Instead of feeling like a victim I turned that pain into passion.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I feel like I’m lucky because I feel like I was given the gift to be mentally strong. Getting chosen to be on a Netflix is a lot of good luck. Millions of people probably applied to be on that show and I was chosen. As long is keep being prepared for an opportunity and working on myself I feel like good luck will continue to push my life and career forward.
