Check Out Emma Van Broekhoven’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emma Van Broekhoven.

Hi Emma , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Ever since I was young, I’ve always been a very creative person. I spent a lot of time drawing, coloring, and making things by hand, which eventually led me to study Design and Craftsmanship at SintLucas. During my studies, I explored several traditional craft techniques, but glasswork immediately stood out to me because it combines creativity, precision, and craftsmanship in such a unique way.

That passion led me to specialize in stained glass and traditional glass painting. Over time, I developed my own artistic signature by experimenting with colors, textures, and different techniques to create pieces that feel both timeless and modern. What I love most about this work is that every piece is handmade and personal, which gives it a unique character.

Today, I mainly focus on designing custom stained-glass pieces for clients. I really enjoy the creative process of turning someone’s ideas into a unique design that fits their vision while still reflecting my own style as an artist. For me, the combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design is what makes this work so rewarding.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
So far, my journey has been going really well, and I’m very grateful for that. Of course, like with any creative profession, there are always challenges, especially when you are developing your own style and learning how to turn creativity into professional work. In the beginning, it took time to build confidence in my craftsmanship and discover what truly makes my work unique.

Another challenge was learning the balance between the technical side of stained glass and the artistic side. Because glasswork requires a lot of precision and patience, I had to continuously improve my skills while also staying creative and innovative in my designs.

But overall, every challenge has helped me grow as an artist and craftsman, and it motivated me to keep improving and pushing my work further.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
What I’m most proud of is my growth in glass painting. Over the years, I’ve really developed my skills and artistic style in this technique, and it has become one of the most important and recognizable parts of my work. I love how glass painting allows me to add depth, detail, and personality to each piece, making every design feel unique.

I think what sets me apart is my personal signature and attention to detail. I’m always experimenting with colors, textures, and techniques to create work that feels both timeless and modern. I want every piece to have its own character while still reflecting my artistic identity. Because of that, my work is not only decorative, but also very personal and handcrafted.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I think the most important quality behind my success is creativity combined with patience and attention to detail. Working with stained glass and glass painting requires a lot of precision, and I truly enjoy taking the time to perfect each piece. At the same time, creativity is what allows me to develop original designs and give every work its own unique character.
