Today we’d like to introduce you to Evver The Thinker
Hi Evver The Thinker, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
You know I actually wasn’t born in Texas, I was born in Provo, Utah. Crazy right. I grew up in a very Christian household surrounded mostly by gospel music, well that and the persistent Spanish rock music my dad loved so much. Looking back, I didn’t feel the need to explore other music genres at first—I mean when you’re raised in a particular environment, you just kind of accept what you’re taught right? Music has always been a part of me, but it wasn’t until I moved to Austin, Texas at around the age of 7 That things really started to shift for me.
As the years went by, I began to open myself up to more music. By middle school, I joined band, and by high school, I was part of the marching band. This is when my musical world really started to expand. What started as just me wanting to play an instrument opened me up to various genres. Music became more than just sound—it became an energy, a vibration, a way to connect with others.
A pivotal moment came when I watched a Genius: Deconstructed video that broke down how producers create hit songs. That sparked my passion for music production. I binge-watched beat-making videos for hours and before long, I “borrowed” my sister’s laptop, downloaded GarageBand, and started making beats. At first, I just wanted to be a producer, one of the best in the game. But one day, someone asked me, “Why don’t you put your voice on this?” and that question basically challenged me to attempt to record a song on my own.
And so I started recording my own voice over the beats I made. I probably recorded over two hundred songs over the next couple of years, experimenting with rap, R&B, and indie. really trying to just figure out my sound. However It wasn’t until after high school that I really had to decide what I wanted to do with my life.
I’ll never forget a conversation I had with my dad at around that time when I told him I wanted to pursue music. He said something that really stuck with me: “Music isn’t what it used to be, so if you want to make good music you have to sing from your heart. Sing not for others, but for what you believe in. When you make a song, don’t try to make what you think others want to hear. Make a song that you would want to hear. Whatever you’re feeling, feel it—if you’re sad, make a sad song; if you’re happy, make a happy song.” hahah i might have butchered what he said but he said it all in spanish so I’m trying my best!
That was the moment when everything clicked for me. The first song I made after that conversation was so deeply personal that I never ended up releasing it. However it gave me the confidence I needed to create the music I wanted to make.
After moving out of my parents’ house and going through the process of discovering who I am as an individual, I took a bit of a break from music. And so it wasn’t until recently that I experienced a minor hiccup in my life—that really pushed me in the direction that I always wanted to go in.
And so after that moment I decided that I want to devote myself to my music. I started connecting with other artist in Austin through open mic events, Singing old songs that I had locked in the “vault” and really just trying to get my name out there. How ever it wasn’t until I made the song “Far Yet Close”, that really inspired me to create my first album. In the span of just one month, I poured everything I was feeling into this album. It was raw, honest, and reflective of what I was going through at the time. Every track is a piece of my heart, a snapshot of my journey. I knew that this project had to be a full-on release, something I could stand behind completely. And though I’ve never had the luxury of a studio or the ability to pay for studio time, I did everything myself—writing the lyrics, recording the vocals, producing, mixing, and mastering the tracks. And of course with the help of some great videographers to assist with visuals, the album is finished and the roll out has begun.
This album is just the beginning of my artistic journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. I want everyone who listens to it to know that this is my truth, my story. It’s not perfect, but it’s real—and I hope that whoever hears it can find something to connect with. This is only the start, and I’m ready to keep pushing forward, creating, and sharing my story.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My biggest obstacle in life has always been my inability to stop overthinking. I remember my mom would often ask, “What are you thinking about?”. It was such a simple question, but I could never seem to find a clear answer. Not because I didn’t know, but because my mind was constantly running, filled with so many thoughts. It wasn’t easy to quiet down.
For years, I tried everything to stop overthinking, but nothing worked. Eventually, I realized that I could turn this challenge into something positive. Whenever I noticed myself overthinking, instead of letting my mind spiral into negativity, I’d redirect that energy into my music. Whether it was writing a song or playing an instrument, I would focus my overthinking on perfecting my music, finding ways to improve it, rather than dwelling on things that weren’t helpful.
I’ve learned to channel it in ways that help me grow, both personally and as an artist. This is why I chose the name. Evver The Thinker—because I know the struggle of being trapped in the constant thoughts of an overactive mind. My music reflects that journey and turning those chaotic thoughts into something meaningful will always be a big part of why I make music.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an artist, I like to blend my Hispanic heritage with a wide range of musical influences to create a sound that’s both unique and evolving. Being bilingual, I love incorporating Spanish into my music, as heard in tracks like “Far Yet Close”.
My upcoming album, BLINDSIDED, set to release March 28th 2025, is a perfect example of my evolving sound and what I’m most proud of at the moment. The album draws heavily from synthwave, 80s-style dance music, and pop, creating an atmosphere that’s both nostalgic and fresh. I wanted to create something that blends modern production with vintage influences. I’ve also included a bonus track to showcase my versatility and explore a different side of my musicality.
What sets me apart is my constant exploration of sound. I don’t box myself into one genre—every track I create is a reflection of my growth and the different phases I go through as an artist. Whether it’s the way I blend languages or experiment with new styles, my music is always personal, honest, and evolving. BLINDSIDED is just the next step in that journey, and I can’t wait for listeners to hear it.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite childhood memories was when my siblings and I played our first song together for our parents. For some context my dad had always dreamed of me and my siblings forming a band together. With my older sister on vocals, my older brother on guitar, me on bass and my younger brother on drums, There was so much excitement and nervous energy in the air as we tried to get everything just right. It wasn’t about being perfect—it was about the joy of creating something together. I’ll never forget the look on my parents’ faces when we finished. Even though we didn’t start the band that my dad had envisioned, that moment really stuck with me. It showed me the power of music and how it brings people together. It creates lasting memories, and it continues to influence how I approach my music today.
