Check Out Femi Yemi-Ese’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Femi Yemi-Ese.

Hi Femi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up as an athlete, playing football and running track for most of my life up until college. My time as a collegiate football player taught me a lot, that’s when I fell in love with how the body adapts to stress and how we can manipulate biological systems to perform better. Post grad I did all I could to learn from who I considered to be great coaches, in some instances I failed miserably, but in others I excelled. I just want to be a really good coach and be able to connect people to a better version of themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has definitely not been smooth. My first collegiate internship in strength & conditioning humbled me in ways I never imagined. It was the first time I really felt my that confidence as a coach was tested, I almost quit the field after that. Even so, some coaches still believed in my ability and I got the chance to be an intern for NFL/NBA off season trainings, an opportunity I’m ever grateful for. The struggles I faced earlier in my career were rooted in me not respecting the craft enough, I wanted it to feel glamours and easy like it did when I dreamt about it, in reality it was the opposite and I got a very necessary reality check.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), I specialize in athletic performance and strength development. I’m known for helping people move better and feel confident in their body, whether for sport or for life. I’m most proud of my clients’ dedication to getting better, whether its for themselves or an external factor like family, it’s an absolute honor to be trusted to help someone overcome physical and mental challenges involved in getting into better shape. I believe my passion for progression is what sets me apart from from others, I understand that what I provide for people isn’t a quick fix, but an intentional lifestyle change that allows them to live a more fulfilling life. Meeting someone where they are and collaboratively building a roadmap to where they want to be. Seeing someone progress, and seeing their confidence increase because they can see how far they’ve come is the best part of my job.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
There’s a long list of people involved in my development as a coach as well as the success I’ve seen so far. To name a few coaches specifically; Cristian Plascencia, Mo Wells, Tim Riley, Jordan Bush, Trey Hardee, Clint Martin, Anna Craig, Mike Hanson, Jeremey Hills, AJ Johnson. These coaches gave me a chance to learn what it takes to be a great coach, they gave me a North Star. In addition to the coaches I’ve met along the way, my support system has been an integral part of my journey, their belief in me carries me through rough times, I don’t have the words to fully express how thankful I am for their continued support.
