Check Out Gisselle Barmore’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisselle Barmore.

Gisselle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began photography in 2022, shooting mainly nature & animal photographs, but started taking Live Music photos in 2024 where my journey really began. My first show was shadowing another photographer, Grace, at the now-closed Vinyl shop Alchemy Records. After reviewing my images from the show, along with reflecting on the process of taking the photos, I felt discouraged from taking photos during live music shows. Although I wasn’t happy with the way my images turned out, I had an interest in taking show photos for this band (now retired) called Scarin’ Folks, where I did a show at Native Blends. After this show, band member Adrian Escareno inquired about a new project he was putting together: a media & booking team called “F.U.N.S.” I worked alongside Adrian and the media team to capture photos for articles and reviews they’d put out, along with studio shoots where we conducted one-on-one interviews with various bands. From there, I began my own journey of reaching out to bands local to Austin. I networked and connected with many photographers in the Austin scene who send me opportunities that have helped me gain traction in the scene- I wouldn’t be where I am without them.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every photographer doubts their media. Sometimes it’s during the photo-taking process, showing up to a set with less-than-ideal lighting, or uploading photos post-shoot and worrying about how to turn them into results you can feel proud of.

This struggle is a part of the adventure and is what makes for the rush of photographing and learning how to navigate and improve one’s skills. I always struggle, and probably always will. You make your own media, and sometimes there are hiccups, but it’s all part of discovering yourself as an artist.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
It’s hard to settle on one accomplishment, especially since I’m still striving to reach more. As a live music photographer, I’ve had so many amazing experiences photographing that I still cannot fathom having lived. From last-minute guest pass approvals to being a band’s primary photographer, there are so many things I feel so grateful about. I am one of many very brilliant photographers out in the Austin scene and feel so special to receive the opportunities that come my way.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am able to be booked/contacted via instagram @delconic and by email delconicphoto@gmail.com
