Today we’d like to introduce you to Grace Grimes.
Grace, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was about 7, I remember my parents gifted me with my first little digital camera. It wasn’t anything special, but I took that little camera with me everywhere. I fell in love with capturing moments in life, nature, and all of the friends and family around me. A big shout out to my people for letting me make them a model over the years! Photography has been a huge passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and I love everything about it. For most of my life, it has mostly been a hobby of mine, but I am working towards making it a career and growing my business in Austin.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I think the best way to grow a photography business is word of mouth and that is what I am struggling with right now. I had to put photography on the back burner for a while as I was completing nursing school, moving from DFW to Austin, and figuring out my new place in the adult life. I am just coming up on 2.5 years at my current job of being a labor and delivery nurse and I am eager to get the word out there for my photography business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a photographer specializing in portraits, couples, and lifestyle photography. I enjoy storytelling through as lends I have done many senior pictures, headshots, branding pictures, engagement pictures, and quirky lifestyle pictures. I have a special interest in getting more into editorial and branding pictures. I am also open to exploring new avenues as opportunities arise.
I try to capture the person as they are with a touch of creativeness to it and any vision that they or me are shooting for. I love being able to capture different stories and moments in people’s lives. I am most proud of my ability to get creative with posing, props, and lighting. My favorite types of pictures are quirky, unconventional, and fun.
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is being proud of my work and the things that I put out there. Photography is a huge artistic outlet for me, so I hope to always bring my client’s vision to life or create the vision for them. I always want my clients to be satisfied with my work, and I will do what I can to make that happen!
