Check Out Jordan Sanchez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Sanchez.

Hi Jordan, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was always drawn to photos. My parents did a great job of documenting our family through pictures over the years. I would spend hours looking at those photos and videos and being so grateful to have them.

It wasn’t until the age of 12 that I really appreciated these images.

After a tragic accident occurred, I realized I didn’t want to forget any of it. The smiles, the tears, the joy. I wanted to capture it all.

I went to the Art Institute of Austin right after high school. There, I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Photography at the end of 2017. Shortly after graduation, I moved out of state and business began to pick up. I was so excited for what was to come.

In 2020 as most businesses were impacted by Covid mine was no different. With weddings and events being canceled left and right I became very discouraged and worried about what this meant for the future of my business.

November of 2020, I moved back to Texas where I reestablished my business and worked through the complexities of Covid restrictions.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t always been the easiest. By far the biggest challenge would be establishing yourself in a new area as a photographer. It takes a lot of time, effort and patience to build a business back up.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a lifestyle and wedding photographer. I absolutely love working with families. Watching those tender moments unravel between parent and child is the best! And saving those moments for these families for a lifetime to come is just gold. I love the unscripted interaction that happens with a couple on their wedding day. Seeing the love in the groom’s eyes as he watches his bride come down the aisle will always make me tear up.

My proudest moments are when a client sees their photos for the first time and it brings tears of joy to their eyes. I love that my work can bring so much joy to people.

As a photographer, I don’t ever want to rush a shot or a moment. My desire for my clients to feel at ease with what they are doing in a natural environment scene is important to me. Getting that on camera without making it look unnatural or scripted is what I always look for in a shot.

A patient photographer with a keen eye to look for the candid unscripted shots is important in this line of work, and that is one of my qualities I believe sets me apart.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I’m the youngest of four and the only girl out of the bunch. I was a very shy, quiet kid who preferred not being the center of attention. This made it pretty easy to snap some embarrassing photos of my family throughout the years, they never saw it coming.
