Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Eckert.
Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been drawn to creative expression. Growing up, I was deeply involved in theatre and dance—I loved the energy, the storytelling, and the ability to fully step into something and make people feel something. I also had a passion for makeup and even dabbled in tutorials. At one point, I seriously considered going to makeup school, but it didn’t feel like the most practical path at the time, so I pivoted.
I ended up in procurement almost by accident—a career I fell into more than chose. While it was stable, it never fully satisfied that creative side of me. Years later, I found my way back to it through TikTok, where I created my micro-influencer page, ADHDFarmgirl. It’s very much my “unfiltered” space—big personality, rapid-fire ADHD thoughts, mental health, everyday life, and whatever else feels real in the moment. That authenticity resonated, and the page grew to just under 20,000 followers.
Alongside that, I built LaurenIRL Studio, my professional UGC brand focused strictly on creating content for businesses. That’s where everything really clicked. I took what I learned from viral content—what hooks attention, what feels genuine, what converts—and started applying it to brand storytelling.
Discovering UGC felt like coming home creatively. I jumped in fully and haven’t looked back. After 37 years, it finally feels like I’ve found my calling. I love working with brands, trying new products, and creating content that captures real, unscripted reactions. I’m known for leaning into bold delivery and big expressions—those scroll-stopping moments that feel both entertaining and authentic.
In many ways, it feels like I’m back in theatre again—but now it’s also a career. And the best part is that this space is constantly evolving. There’s always something new to learn, from emerging trends to deeper content strategy, which I’m now exploring to tie it all together. It’s exciting, it’s challenging, and it’s genuinely fun. And I know I’m just getting started.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No—definitely not a smooth road.
For a while, I was chasing the creative fulfillment I missed, and it came at a cost—both financially and emotionally. I was spending money trying to “keep up” or grow, investing in things that didn’t always have a return, just to feel like I was moving forward. At the same time, I was building connections on social media that, in hindsight, weren’t always genuine. A lot of it felt one-sided—support that didn’t go both ways, relationships that looked better on the surface than they actually were.
That was a turning point for me. I had to step back and reassess what I was doing and why. Instead of chasing validation or trying to fit into what I thought the space wanted, I started focusing on using my creativity in a way that felt more aligned and intentional.
That shift is what led me into UGC and building something more sustainable and grounded. I learned to value real connection over numbers, strategy over noise, and to treat my creativity as a skill—not just an outlet. It wasn’t easy, but that pivot made all the difference.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a UGC creator and content strategist, working under my brand LaurenIRL Studio, where I create high-converting, relatable content for brands across platforms like TikTok and Instagram. I specialize in short-form video that feels natural and unscripted—but is actually very intentional. My focus is on scroll-stopping hooks, strong storytelling, and authentic delivery that keeps viewers engaged and drives results.
Alongside that, I run my micro-influencer page, ADHDFarmgirl, which is a more unfiltered, personality-driven space. It’s where I’ve built a community by leaning into humor, ADHD, mental health, and everyday life. That balance—between creative freedom and strategic execution—is what really shapes my work.
I’m known for big, genuine reactions and bold, punchy delivery. I’m not afraid to take creative risks or lean into humor and personality to make content stand out. At the same time, I understand the strategy behind what makes content perform—so it’s not just entertaining, it’s effective.
What I’m most proud of is finding a way to turn something that always felt like a personal outlet into a sustainable career. After years of feeling like I had to choose between creativity and stability, I’ve built something that allows me to have both.
What sets me apart is that blend of performance and strategy. My background in theatre gives me a natural ability to connect and hold attention, while my experience in viral content and UGC allows me to back it up with real insight into what works. I don’t just create content—I create content with purpose.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I’ve always leaned toward being a risk-taker—sometimes instinctively, sometimes strategically. Earlier in life, a lot of my risks were financial. I invested in an Airbnb property and even took on a home that needed significant work, without fully calculating what it would take to turn it around. At the time, it felt exciting and full of potential—but looking back, I can also recognize the downside of that approach. There’s a level of impulsivity there, which I think can be tied to ADHD. It taught me some hard but valuable lessons about balancing vision with planning.
Since stepping into UGC, my relationship with risk has shifted. I’m much more intentional about where I invest financially, especially after experiencing what it feels like when things don’t go as planned. Instead, I take risks with my time and creativity. I put a lot of effort into pitching brands in ways that stand out, experimenting with different angles, and laying the groundwork for long-term partnerships—even when there’s no immediate return.
Creatively, I’m also willing to take risks that others might shy away from. I’m not afraid to take on briefs that feel a little more taboo or bold, and that’s actually been a strength. It’s allowed me to create content that cuts through the noise and resonates on a deeper level, which benefits both the brand and my own growth as a creator.
So while I may have started as more of an impulsive risk-taker, I’ve evolved into someone who takes calculated, creative risks. I’ve learned that risk doesn’t always have to mean financial exposure—it can also mean showing up differently, trusting your instincts, and being willing to stand out.
