Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Malouf.
Hi Megan, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi! π
My name is Megan, and I am a permanent makeup artist and a brow specialist. I have loved all things beauty since I was very young, often times getting into my momβs makeup. Before deciding on becoming a permanent makeup artist, I went to college and received my business degree not knowing I would have my own business a few years later.
Iβm 31 years old, married to my high school sweetheart and we have a 4 year old daughter, a baby boy on the way, as well as two rescue pups.
In December of 2022, I began researching and exploring the world of permanent makeup. This is not an easy career field to be in, and there are many things that go into owning your own business that bring in their own set of challenges. However, I truly feel like if God plants an idea in your head, and you feel this inclination to it, then it must be for you! So I went for it! I completed my training, took the steps to getting licensed, and found the perfect location right on Main St. in Bastrop, Tx.
Fast forward to today, I have been in business for over a three years and LOVE what I do.
I now offer two different brow services: powder brows and combo brows, designed to enhance your natural beauty. Over the next year Iβm looking forward to expanding my permanent makeup services even further as well as offering tiny tattoos!
I feel truly blessed to be part of the Bastrop community, where Iβve formed meaningful connections and friendships with like-minded individuals. Serving my clients here has been an immense privilege, and Iβm grateful for the opportunity to do what I love while making a positive impact on peopleβs lives.
Would you say itβs been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges youβve faced along the way?
Learning permanent makeup is not an easy journey! There is so much that goes into it, from licensing and training to building your social media, finding your niche, and developing your own style. Itβs all part of the process, and taking it one step at a time has made it feel much more manageable for me. When you want something badly enough, you just have to go after it.
Alright, so letβs switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in powder brows, and what sets me apart is my attention to detail and how much I genuinely care about making my clients feel comfortable and taken care of during their appointment. I really focus on creating balanced brows that enhance your natural features, and make you look like the best version of yourself.
What Iβm most proud of is the moment my clients look in the mirror and love what they see. I truly enjoy the artistry behind brows, and Iβd say having a good eye for shape (plus my makeup background) helps me create results that feel really natural and flattering.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like about Austin is the energyβit feels creative, growing, and full of life. Thereβs always something to do, from great food spots and coffee shops to family-friendly activities, and I love that mix of city life with a more laid-back vibe. I also really enjoy how many different communities and small businesses are here, it feels inspiring.
What I donβt love as much is how fast itβs growing. The traffic and crowds can definitely get overwhelming, and sometimes it feels like itβs losing a bit of the slower, more easygoing feel it used to have.
