Today we’d like to introduce you to MoscatoJ.
Hi MoscatoJ, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It started in 2020, when I dropped my first single, called PYT (Pretty Young Thang). Being that was my first song ever released I didn’t know if it was going flop or be a hit. As the weeks and months went by it did ok in numbers. I wasn’t taking the music thing too seriously at that time. This was during the pandemic at the time, and I saw people on IG and TikTok posting about their music. And that inspired me to take it seriously. In 2021 I went to a studio session where I met a producer name 94, he was working on a beat, I like it and I had a hook (In my white T), that he liked so we collaborated and created the song “In My White-T.” In 2021 I was seeing a girl in September and after a few dates I told her how I was feeling and it was not reciprocated and being it was in September that’s why my second release it titled “September Crush”. The only way I knew to release my feelings was to do this song. The streams were picking up. I performed this song at my first official performance at the PRE ROLL aka The Smoke Out ran by JSoulja where I was performing on crutches & wearing and boot. Seeing those people going crazy over the performance motivated me to keep going. Fast forward…. 2022 I dropped many singles, my most successful ones were “In a Dream, FastLane , Bands Up and 21 with no Kids”. These songs did crazy numbers on IG, 21 with no kids has reached 236,934 streams on Spotify as of today. During that year I made my first official video which was to FastLane. We had crazy cars and a location to film. It was so much fun and very professional looking. To this day FastLane has reached 32,000 Spotify streams. As the years went by, I did a UT frat party ran by RayTx, I did DaBaby show and in 2023 &I did the Austin Spurs half time show. After the performance & after all the kids wanting to take pictures with me, I gained fans and this made me want to go harder. Fast forward….. I have started performing more, I performed at Empire Control room and garage several times, Flamingo Cantina, a private event at COTA, in the past 2 years I have performed at, Rice University, Solar Punk fest, Austin Spurs halftime show for a 2nd time, BMI SXSW Howdy Tx showcase and most recently at SXSW at Mowhawk outdoor stage.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It was not smooth. Went through trials and tribulations. Definitely the underdog in the community. But with having faith in God and not giving up and having confidence in myself. I have done a lot for myself; I am still pushing through the barriers. I had and still have ups and downs, had a couple of managers where we did not align so we moved on. I’ve had moments where I wanted to give up but by the Grace of God and seeing that my fan base was building, I kept praying and pushing on. Shout out to my grandma because she has kept me sane in this whole journey.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
