Today we’d like to introduce you to Remi Mae.
Hi Remi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Originally from Pea Green, CO, started playing music professionally at 17, moved to Austin area for music specifically at 20 years old:
“It was there where she caught the attention of many of that area’s leading lights, among them, Cody Canada and Sunny Sweeney, who then, in turn, loaned their voices to the aforementioned EP. Likewise, she made an appearance on “Roots and Branches,” a popular live radio show hosted by none other than Ray Wylie Hubbard. As a result, it was little surprise when the EP’s first single climbed into the radio Top Ten on the Texas Regional Radio Report, which appears in Billboard’s weekly Country Update.” (excerpt from Remimae.com)
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, I’ve had a lot of help along the way but it has been “bootstraps” all the way from branding and marketing to the music itself and funding and recording. It is a difficult thing to be a young woman in this industry, often any industry, but showbiz especially.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Musician, singer, songwriter, performer, producer. I play rock and roll and I just released my first full length album on May 29th. Ive been playing shows and touring since 17 and I am beyond happy I finally have a full album to share with the world. Im known for my flashy performance style on stage but also my versatility as I used to play Texas country music but have recently segued into rock and roll.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
Authenticity trumps all. Confidence in what you’re doing because you know that it is in true alignment with what you want, who you are and what you believe, regardless of what others are into at any given time is what sets true art/artists apart.
