Community Highlights: Meet Adesuwa Ebomwonyi of Daeplanners

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adesuwa Ebomwonyi.

Hi Adesuwa , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey into event planning started in a place many people wouldn’t expect, the world of college athletics. Before launching DAEPlanners, I served as the Director of Basketball Operations for a women’s college basketball program. In that role, I was responsible for coordinating team travel, managing schedules, managing logistics, and ensuring every detail was executed seamlessly behind the scenes.
That experience taught me the importance of organization, strategic planning, adaptability, and attention to detail, skills that have become the foundation of my event planning career. Working in athletics required me to think several steps ahead, solve problems quickly, and manage multiple moving pieces at once, all while creating a successful experience for the team.
After leaving the coaching and athletics world, I wasn’t entirely sure where my career path would lead next. Then an opportunity came through my aunt, who introduced me to my first day-of wedding coordination role. I immediately fell in love with the fast-paced nature of events, the creativity involved, and the opportunity to help people celebrate some of the most important moments of their lives. One event quickly turned into another, and before long I found myself coordinating weddings and special events on a regular basis.
As my experience grew, I realized that many of the skills I developed in athletics translated perfectly into event planning. That realization inspired me to launch DAEPlanners LLC, a company built on the belief that every client deserves a well-organized, stress-free, and memorable event experience.
Today, DAEPlanners plans and coordinates weddings, milestone celebrations, corporate events, and social gatherings for clients across Texas and beyond. What began as a single coordination opportunity has evolved into a growing business that allows me to combine my passion for organization, hospitality, and creating unforgettable experiences. Looking back, every step of my journey, from college athletics to entrepreneurship has prepared me for the work I do today, and I am excited for what lies ahead.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs. One of my biggest lessons has been learning that I can’t do everything myself.
When I launched DAEPlanners in 2022, I wore every hat in the business. I was the planner, coordinator, marketer, content creator, administrator, accountant, and customer service representative all at once. In the beginning, I thought being a good business owner meant handling everything myself. Over time, I realized that mindset was actually limiting my growth.
As the business expanded and I took on more clients, I learned the importance of building a team and trusting others to support the vision. Delegating was not easy for me because I care deeply about every detail, but having a reliable team has allowed me to serve my clients better and create a stronger business. It taught me that asking for help isn’t a weakness, it’s necessary for growth.
Another challenge was embracing social media. Ironically, although I own an event planning business, I do not naturally enjoy posting content or putting myself online. Even though I officially launched DAEPlanners in 2022, I didn’t begin consistently creating and sharing content until last year. For a long time, I relied primarily on referrals and word-of-mouth marketing.
What I’ve learned is that social media is incredibly powerful. It’s not just about gaining followers; it’s about building trust, telling your story, showcasing your work, and connecting with potential clients before they ever reach out. Once I became more intentional about sharing my experiences, behind-the-scenes moments, and client events, I started seeing the impact firsthand.
Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced moments of doubt, growing pains, and challenges along the way. But each obstacle has helped me become a better leader and business owner. Looking back, those struggles taught me some of the most valuable lessons: trust your team, stay consistent, be willing to evolve, and don’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Growth often happens just outside of your comfort zone.

As you know, we’re big fans of Daeplanners . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
DAEPlanners is a full-service event planning and coordination company dedicated to creating seamless, memorable, and meaningful experiences for our clients. We specialize in weddings, milestone celebrations, corporate events, and social gatherings, offering services that range from day-of coordination to partial and full-service planning.
At our core, we believe that great events are about more than beautiful décor, they are about creating an experience. While aesthetics are important, we focus heavily on the guest journey, logistics, and the details that often go unnoticed but make all the difference. Our goal is to ensure that every client can be fully present and enjoy their special moment while we handle everything happening behind the scenes.
What sets DAEPlanners apart is our unique blend of event planning expertise and project management. In addition to being an event planner, I am also a project manager by profession. My background as a Director of Basketball Operations and my experience in project management have equipped me with strong organizational, communication, budgeting, and problem-solving skills. I approach every event as a project, developing timelines, managing vendors, coordinating stakeholders, mitigating risks, and ensuring every detail is executed with precision.
We are also passionate about building genuine relationships with our clients. Every event is personal to us because every client has a unique story. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, we take the time to understand our clients’ vision, priorities, and personalities so that their event truly reflects who they are.
DAEPlanners proudly serves clients throughout Texas and beyond, planning events for individuals, families, and organizations across multiple states. We also have experience coordinating multicultural celebrations, bringing cultural traditions and personal touches together in a way that feels authentic and meaningful.
One thing I am especially proud of is the reputation we have built through trust, referrals, and relationships. Much of our growth has come from satisfied clients, vendor partners, and guests who have experienced our work firsthand. That organic growth is a testament to the level of care, professionalism, and excellence we strive to provide with every event.
As we continue to grow, our mission remains the same: to create unforgettable experiences while removing stress from the planning process. We want our clients to know that when they work with DAEPlanners, they are gaining more than an event planner, they are gaining a trusted partner, advocate, and project manager who is fully invested in bringing their vision to life and ensuring their celebration is a success.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that mentorship and networking are not just about collecting contacts, they’re about building genuine relationships.
When I first started my business, I thought networking meant attending events and handing out business cards. While those things can be helpful, I’ve found that the most valuable connections come from being authentic, showing up consistently, and finding ways to serve others before asking for anything in return.
My advice for finding a mentor is to look for someone whose values, leadership style, and career journey you genuinely admire. Don’t focus solely on finding someone with a large following or impressive title. Some of the best mentors are people who are willing to share their experiences, provide honest feedback, and genuinely want to see you succeed. Be intentional about nurturing those relationships and respect their time by coming prepared with thoughtful questions.
Networking has played a significant role in the growth of DAEPlanners. Many of my opportunities have come through relationships with clients, vendors, venue managers, fellow entrepreneurs, and industry professionals. Some of the strongest connections I’ve made started with a simple conversation or collaboration. Over time, those relationships developed into referrals, partnerships, and lasting friendships.
What has worked best for me is focusing on relationships over transactions. I believe in supporting other businesses, celebrating their successes, and maintaining connections even when there isn’t an immediate opportunity to work together. People remember how you make them feel, and trust is built over time through consistency and professionalism.
I would also encourage entrepreneurs not to underestimate the power of community and visibility. For years, I relied heavily on word-of-mouth referrals and was hesitant to share my journey publicly. Once I became more active in sharing my experiences and expertise, I found that networking became much more natural because people already felt connected to my story and my brand before we ever met.
At the end of the day, mentorship and networking are about relationships. Be authentic, stay curious, continue learning, and focus on building meaningful connections rather than immediate results. The opportunities will often come from the relationships you nurture over time.
