Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathan Scott.
Hi Jonathan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
CTIS Remodeling was years in the making before it officially became a business. When Jonathan was just 18, he was helping a friend with small remodeling jobs—replacing carpet, making repairs, and working in homes around different neighborhoods. Even then, he saw the potential to build something bigger, always trying to encourage his friends to beyond the next job and imagine what a real company could become.
After starting CTIS in the low-voltage industry in 2016, Jonathan continued taking on small construction projects on the side. The remodeling division really began after a Starbucks contact mentioned needing tile work, and Jonathan connected them with a crew he trusted. That one opportunity led to more projects and slowly built momentum.
At one point, we were ready to shut the remodeling side down due to inconsistent work. During a family gathering, a family member suggested leaving his construction job to join the company full-time. It sounded crazy at the time—we had very little work lined up and only a simple website Jonathan had built himself—but two weeks later, he quit his job.
From there, we kept saying yes to opportunities, focused on building relationships, and grew little by little into the full-service remodeling company we are today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Having come to the United States from Venezuela at the age of 12, Jonathan is no stranger to overcoming challenges and adapting to uncertainty. One of the biggest obstacles our company faced was the COVID-19 pandemic, which slowed projects and created uncertainty throughout the industry. Rather than stepping back, we used that time to refine our processes, strengthen relationships, and focus on providing exceptional service to our clients. It reinforced a lesson we still carry today: loyalty, consistency, and genuinely caring for your customers can sustain a business even during difficult times.

How do you think about happiness?
These days, happiness comes from spending time with our family, watching our kids grow, and having the flexibility to be present for the moments that matter most. Outside of work, Jonathan enjoys racing motorcycles at the track, and we both love the challenge of growing and developing our businesses and working toward new goals together. Building something from the ground up has been incredibly rewarding, but being able to share that journey with our family and create opportunities for others is what brings us the most fulfillment.
