Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Animals have always been a huge part of my heart. For years, I was the person friends and family called whenever they needed someone to care for their pets. I welcomed every opportunity to spend time with dogs and cats, so pet sitting never really felt like work to me.
I spent seven years working in marketing, and when my job became remote a 4 years ago, I began turning my longtime love of pet sitting into a small side business. As the stress of corporate life grew, so did my pet-sitting community. Eventually, I realized that the work bringing me the most peace and fulfillment was the work I was doing with animals. Taking the leap to become a full-time pet sitter felt like the most natural and right choice for me.
I wanted to create the kind of experience I would want for my own dogs. Instead of a traditional boarding facility, I provide a cozy, calm home where dogs can settle in, follow their normal routines, and receive care tailored to their individual personalities and needs. My goal is for every dog to feel safe, loved, and genuinely at home while their family is away.
Despite my background in marketing, Cavalier Pet Sitting has grown almost entirely through word of mouth. That means so much to me because every recommendation comes from someone who has trusted me with a beloved pet.
The name Cavalier Pet Sitting was inspired by my own Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Honey and Bear. They have been attached to my side since I brought them home during COVID, and they are truly my pride and joy. Naming the business after them felt like the perfect tribute and a promise to my clients that I will care for their dogs with the same love and devotion I give my own.
Now, I get to spend my days surrounded by dogs, providing them with a peaceful home away from home. I absolutely love what I do and cannot imagine returning to corporate America. I truly believe this is what I was meant to do.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I feel incredibly fortunate that, for me, it truly has been a smooth road. I think starting slowly made all the difference. I was able to build genuine relationships with my clients, earn their trust, and grow my client list naturally through word of mouth.
What began as something I did purely because I loved animals gradually became a part-time business and eventually grew into my full-time career. Each new stage felt like a natural next step rather than something rushed or forced. It has been such a fun and rewarding experience to watch a hobby I have always loved grow into a business that now allows me to do what I love every day.

Cavalier Pet Sitting provides personalized, home-based dog boarding designed to feel like a true home away from home. I am a full-time pet sitter, so the dogs in my care receive consistent companionship and 24/7 supervision rather than spending long periods alone.
I specialize in small-group boarding within my home, which allows me to create a calm, peaceful environment while tailoring each stay to the individual dog. I follow their normal routines as closely as possible, including feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, playtime, medications, and sleeping preferences. If a dog is accustomed to sleeping in a bed, curling up on the couch, or needing extra affection throughout the day, I want them to have those same comforts while they are with me.
My home has a secure 4,000-square-foot fenced yard with plenty of room for outdoor time, play, and frequent potty breaks. I welcome dogs of all breeds, ages, and sizes, and I have experience caring for puppies, seniors, anxious dogs, reactive dogs, and dogs with medical or mobility needs. Although Cavaliers inspired the name of my business, Cavalier Pet Sitting is a welcoming place for every breed. In addition to boarding, I also offer drop-in care for pets who are happiest staying in their own homes.
What sets my business apart is how personal the experience is. I take the time to learn each dog’s personality, habits, comfort needs, and little quirks. They are never treated like a reservation on a calendar. The dogs who stay in my home truly become part of my family. Sometimes I even get a little emotional at pickup, especially when I know it may be a while before their next visit, because I already know how much I am going to miss them. I also provide regular photos and updates so their owners can enjoy their time away knowing their dog is safe, comfortable, and deeply loved.
What I am most proud of is the trust behind my brand. Cavalier Pet Sitting has grown primarily through word of mouth, repeat clients, and personal recommendations. Knowing that families feel comfortable returning to me and recommending me to the people they care about is one of the greatest compliments I could receive.
I have returning dogs who leap out of the car and run straight into my home like it is Christmas morning. There is no better feeling than knowing they remember this as a place where they feel safe, loved, and excited to return. To me, those moments that make everything worth while.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I have learned is how deeply a dog can be affected by its environment. When a dog feels safe, understood, and surrounded by calm energy, you often get to see an entirely different side of them.
I have cared for dogs whose families described them as severely anxious, reactive, or difficult because of certain puppy or senior behaviors. Once they settle into my home and realize they are in a peaceful, loving place where their individual needs are respected, they often begin to relax and thrive. Before long, they are happy campers at what I affectionately call “ Cavalier Pet Sitting Summer Camp.”
Every dog communicates what they need in a different way. My role is to listen, pay attention, and tailor their stay around their personality, routines, and behaviors. Watching a dog become comfortable enough to play, rest, explore, and be fully themselves is what makes this work so rewarding. It also creates a positive boarding experience for both the dog and their owner, which is always my ultimate goal.
