Hi Kristina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
Travel has always been something I enjoy. I started working for an airline and worked in reservations for about 9 and a half years before having my son and then needing to find something different to allow me the flexibility to work from home and care for my son. That’s when I launched my travel business, which I have been able to do from home, and it allowed me to allow families to create memories as I created memories with my son and family.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been relatively smooth so far?
It has been a challenging road, but what business or endeavor is. At the beginning of my journey, I really had to learn how to navigate not only working and having a baby but also working from home, running a business, and having a baby. It had challenges, and I had to manage my time and prioritize everything according to its importance. Obliviously, my son would come first and foremost, so I often had him on my hip listening to training, replying to a client, or helping a fellow business partner. No matter what business you run, there are always peaks and valleys. In this industry, sometimes you encounter individuals who share a different vision or grit than you do, and you have to learn how to keep moving forward. Being an entrepreneur or business owner, all starts with having a strong positive mindset.
We’ve been impressed with Wanderlust Adventures, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
Wanderlust Adventures is a small family-owned business! We take pride in helping clients achieve their goals and create memorable experiences. While we can book all types of travel, I enjoy giving my clients vitamin Sea by booking cruises! There’s just something about the open waters and the sounds of the ocean waves! What sets us apart is the personal touch we provide, the care we take, and the love we pour into our clients to ensure that we give the best experience so they can travel stress-free and create those memories.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Finding a community of individuals can be so beneficial! Especially when getting into the travel and hospitality industry, doing things from the ground up and by yourself can be stressful. I found that community when I first started looking into a home-based travel business, and it has helped me so much. It is now actually something I provide: mentorship, community, training, and resources.
