Kynan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in a small town in Arkansas, and over the last eight years, Austin has become home. For 14 years, I worked in finance, but owning a business that brought creativity to people was always the dream.
When I finally stepped out on faith, I went all in on making Kandles2U what it is today.
I saw an incredible market for activation experiences moments where guests don’t just attend an event, they create something. Candle-making felt like the perfect fit. It’s hands-on, fully custom, and deeply personal. Guests get to explore scents that match their personality, their mood, their memories and they leave with something they made themselves.
The best part? Watching someone discover the exact combination of scents that makes them feel happy and comfortable. That moment never gets old.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been without its challenges, but Austin embraced Kandles2U with open arms! And that made all the difference.
My background in finance and client-facing work gave me a strong foundation for running a business. I understood numbers, relationships, and how to serve people well. But there’s a big difference between working in business and building your own business.
I had to quickly get a grasp on everything that comes with being a small business owner logistics, operations, marketing, vendor relationships, all of it. The learning curve was steep, but I buckled down and figured it out piece by piece. Every challenge taught me something new about what it takes to build a secure, sustainable business from the ground up.
The support from this community kept me going through the hard parts.
As you know, we’re big fans of Kandles2U. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Kandles2U is a mobile candle-making workshop that brings the full experience directly to you, from your home, venue, office, or event space. We serve Austin, Texas and surrounding cities, and yes, we travel for special events too.
What we do:
We show up with everything needed for a hands-on, guided candle-making experience. Guests create their own custom-scented candles from scratch choosing their fragrance combinations, pouring their own wax, and leaving with something they made themselves.
What we specialize in:
We’re known for turning any gathering into an interactive, memorable experience. Whether it’s a bachelorette party, bridal shower, birthday celebration, corporate team event, or large-scale activation, we bring the creativity to the people. We’ve hosted everything from intimate girls’ nights to 120+ guest events.
What sets us apart:
The “mobile” part is our unfair advantage. Most candle experiences require guests to come to a studio, we flip that. We bring the entire workshop to wherever the celebration is happening. That means zero logistics stress for hosts, and a fully immersive experience for guests.
We also offer unique services like vessel refills, where customers can bring back their favorite candle jar and create a brand-new custom scent sustainability meets luxury.
What I’m most proud of:
The moments. Watching someone discover the exact scent combination that makes them light up. Seeing friends laugh together while they create. Knowing that guests leave with more than a candle they leave with a memory and something personal they made with their own hands.

How do you define success?
For me, success is becoming the go-to mobile candle-making workshop and activation experience in Austin and surrounding cities.
It means being the first name that comes to mind when someone is planning a bachelorette party, a corporate team event, a baby shower, or any gathering where they want something memorable and hands-on. It’s about offering custom experiences that can be tailored to any event and any size.
But I’m also building toward something bigger. Right now, my focus is on dominating the Austin market and delivering unforgettable experiences. But one day, I want Kandles2U to grow into something much larger, expanding beyond Austin, reaching more communities, and becoming a recognized name in the experiential event space.
Success, to me, is growing step by step while staying true to what makes Kandles2U special: bringing creativity directly to people and giving them something personal to take home.
