Today we’d like to introduce you to Milou Pietersz.
Hi Milou, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Eight years ago, I came to the United States on a full ride as a Division I student-athlete (tennis player). I’m originally from the Netherlands (Dutch), and I’ve been living in the United States for eight years now. During my last year of college, I started exploring the idea of working for myself. I was the former advertising account executive at my university and had record-breaking sales, which inspired me to start a business of my own after I graduated with a degree in media and advertising. I was working with my first client when I was still in college, volunteered at several organizations, and had many side hustles (UberEats, InstaCart, and coaching tennis). While social media wasn’t my primary income yet, it was always my focus because I wanted to grow into an agency.
What started out as a solopreneur journey has now turned into a 6-figure agency where I manage a small team of 5. We now help 6-figure female CEOs scale their impact on social media through strategy and execution. I’ve been able to take everything I learned as a student-athlete and use this drive on my entrepreneurial journey. I have a big vision and can’t wait to keep expanding the agency and have a bigger impact overall.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest challenges was getting myself and my name out there. Most people that know me would know me as an athlete or anything related to tennis, and now I really wanted to position myself as a thought leader in the social media industry. Putting yourself out there is never easy. The side hustles helped me grow into the social media business I have now, but finding clients from scratch is not “easy.” This takes time, patience, and hard work. I think any entrepreneur can relate to that. You have to make a lot of sacrifices and not everyone will understand why you’re working most of the time and what exactly it is you do (with social media being a pretty new industry).
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We help 6-figure female CEOs scale their impact on social media through strategy and execution. Building a consistent, authentic presence on social media will help to increase brand awareness, build loyalty, provide value to your audience, create a community, convert followers into customers. I could go on forever, but the bottom line is, social media has the power to elevate your brand in a positive way. Running a business is hard work and managing your social media on top of everything else will leave most of us feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from the real world.
Our done-for-you service is here to change that. We build a customized, long-term growth strategy, capture your true essence and brand voice, create content that positions you as an authority in your industry, develop and nurture a community that gets what your brand is all about, and dial in on what makes you stand out.
