Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharla Edmondson.
Hi Sharla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started after I had my first child and quite my corporate job because of the stress that it brought me. I wanted too make people feel good and help relive stress. This made me think of my first facial thats when I decided to go to esthetician school. I spent years working for other’s learning and honing my craft. In 2020 when Covid hit, I was working at a spa and it closed down for months. When they openned their doors again I decided to not go back and stay home with my childern to homeschool them during Covid months. After a year of homeschoolin, my children were ready to go too school and I was ready to go back too work. I thought that it would be the perfet time to start my own buisness and do things my way. I took my tax return and my stimilus check combind the two and opened Genesis Beauty Company on June 1, 2021. After being scared to take the big leap and work for myself, I’m so glad that I did it. Even through all of the learning curves I’m still thriving four years later.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, but I believe that’s normal for every entrepreneur. Opening during COVID was not an easy decision, but I’m proud to say my first year in business was very successful. The second year came with its share of highs and lows. At times, I even questioned whether I should continue. But I chose to believe in myself, market my business consistently, and keep learning so I could improve the things that weren’t working. The bumps and struggles along the way have helped make my business stronger—and made me a more savvy entrepreneur.
We’ve been impressed with Genesis Beauty Company, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nestled in nature among the Hill Country, Genesis Beauty Company is a private spa where people can come to heal—not only on the outside, but on the inside as well. My spa offers a variety of facials and skin care modalities, including Gua Sha, waxing, Reiki, and sound therapy. Every facial is customized to cater to each client’s unique needs, helping them feel refreshed and renewed—both in beauty and in energy.
I’ve thoughtfully curated facials that incorporate Reiki and sound therapy to help clients feel good from the inside out. Some skin issues can stem not just from diet, but also from stress. That’s why I believe in treating the skin and supporting relaxation to help reduce stress—one of the many reasons I chose to become an aesthetician.
Whether you’re with me for an hour or a full three-hour session, you’ll always receive exactly what you came for. As a solo aesthetician, I will personally care for your skin each and every visit, allowing me to get to know your skin’s journey over time and deliver the best possible results.
The word “Genesis” means beginning—and for me, that’s exactly what this has been: a new beginning of self-discovery and entrepreneurship. It’s also a new beginning for my clients—their skin care journey and their healing within.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to never give up and to keep going. There were many times when I wanted to quit and questioned whether I should even be doing this. But every time those thoughts crept in, I received confirmation in different ways that I was on the right path—that this is exactly what I’m meant to be doing, not just for myself, but for everyone I have the opportunity to help
