Today we’d like to introduce you to Sianni Dean.

Hi Sianni, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am the 22 years old owner of Cranky Granny’s Sweet Rolls. Cranky Granny’s Sweet Rolls offers a variety of different sweet rolls to choose from. A sweet roll is a cinnamon roll but we put our own spin on it by calling our sweet rolls. We offer a variety of different flavors to choose from like classic, strawberry, caramel apple, peach cobbler, cookies n cream and the list goes on and on. We even offer vegan options. Everything is made from scratch from the dough, glazes and toppings. Our Mission Is To Connect People With One Another Through Delicious Fresh Baked Sweet Rolls Filled With Love. We Value The Idea Of Joy/Happiness And Strive To Bring Everyone Back to Joyful Memories While Creating One At The Moment One Sweet Roll At A Time. The business is dedicated to my granny, grandma and mom who always made delicious food and desserts that brought us all together on many occasions. People always ask if my granny is Cranky but honestly she’s the sweetest person who may say a bad word or five very often.

Cranky Granny’s Sweet Rolls originated in Willingboro, New Jersey when I was just 18 years old though I came up with the idea of doing it at 15 years old. I moved here in the middle of the pandemic in the beginning of November of 2020 to serve our sweet rolls out of “Midtown Live” on Cameron Road. We were connected to Midtown Live through the business group I am in “Alluvione” which is made up of other unique entrepreneurs. I had the choice to stay in New Jersey where I could continue to sell the sweet rolls out of my apartment or come here and be in an actual restaurant. Though it wasn’t ours, it definitely gave us the opportunity to get our feet wet in the area. A few weeks after being here in Austin, we were published in FORBES magazine and most recently in Edible Austin. Four months into being here in Austin, in February, at 22 years old I signed the lease to our very own and first storefront at the domain (10910 domain drive suite 106, Austin, TX, 78758.). I would love to have you guys stop by and get even more information on how the journey has been. I hope you have a sweet rest of your day and can’t wait to hear back!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One of the many struggles I have had to deal with have been trying to remember that just because it’s my dream, it doesn’t mean it’s everyone’s. Sometimes in entrepreneurship, I feel like we get a bit mad when the people helping us aren’t going all-in like we are but we have to continuously remind ourselves that this was our dream, our goal, they’re only there to assist.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Cranky Grannys is a cinnamon roll (sweet roll) business that specializes in various toppings that you can place on your sweet rolls. We have flavors from your traditional classic sweet roll to banana pudding, caramel apple, strawberry and the list goes on and on. Everything is made from scratch from the dough to the glaze and even the toppings. The mission of this brand is to connect people with one another through delicious fresh baked sweet rolls filled with love one at a time. The business was actually created In Dedication to my granny, grandma and mom who always made delicious food that brought friends and family together for great times.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to be patient. In the beginning of me starting to actually make sweet rolls, they were terrible, absolutely disgusting because I wasn’t patient with the process of it. That small lesson of learning how to be patient with making the sweet rolls set me up For patience in my future. Sometimes I feel like we as entrepreneurs try to do everything that comes to

Mind without mastering the first goal first. One of the goals I set for myself when opening this first store here in Austin (after starting the business over four years ago) was to actually live in the moment of what I have right now. Be 100% at this then go onto the next. I rather be 100% at one thing then 50% at many and never fully succeed.
