Hi Suji, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Suji Shin. My twin sister Hyesu and I grew up in a Korean home where skincare was a daily ritual, not a reaction to a problem. We watched our mother and grandmother care for their skin every morning, slowly and intentionally, and both kept beautiful skin their whole lives. That philosophy became our clinic.
We are trained in the two halves of what we do. I’m a licensed acupuncturist with a background in traditional Eastern medicine, and Hyesu is a trained esthetician. When Korean beauty went mainstream in America, we watched the tools arrive without the knowledge behind them. Gua sha became something people rub over their face without knowing the proper directions or pressure, which can actually damage the skin instead of helping it. Korean skincare became a shelf of expensive products, layered in the wrong order without understanding what each one does. It was never meant to be that. Done right, it doesn’t have to be expensive at all. The knowledge matters more than the products, and we knew Austin deserved the real version.
We opened THE ONE Clinic in 2020 and developed SculptONE™, a six-layer facial method that lifts and sculpts the face by working on what’s underneath the skin: the fascia, the lymphatic system, circulation, and the muscles that hold tension. Most clients notice a visible difference after their first session, less puffiness and a more defined jawline, and the results build with consistency. Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth at all. We opened in August 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, when a touch-based business was the hardest thing to launch.
The bigger challenge has been education. Austin knows spas and it knows injectables. What we do is neither. A sculpting facial that works on fascia and lymphatic flow gets real, visible results without needles, but most people don’t know it exists. So education became part of everything we do, including the facial itself. During each session, our estheticians explain what they’re working on and why, what your skin is telling us, and how to carry the work into your routine at home. We do it because results are the whole point. When clients understand their own skin, the results last longer and they’re happier in it.
The quieter struggle was building systems. Training every esthetician to deliver the same method at the same standard took years of refinement. That work is invisible, but it’s why the experience is consistent no matter whose hands you’re in.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Opening a facial clinic in August 2020 was the biggest risk we’ve taken. Everything about that moment said wait. We opened anyway, because Austin is full of stressed, high-achieving people who carry it in their face, and nobody here was treating that.
The second risk was building our own method instead of licensing someone else’s. SculptONE™ took years to develop and we train every esthetician in it ourselves. It’s slower than buying a playbook, but it’s why you can’t get this facial anywhere else in Austin.
Our view on risk is simple: it shrinks when it’s rooted in something you know deeply. We weren’t betting on a trend. We were betting on knowledge our family has practiced for generations, and on results people can see in the mirror after one visit.
